First Squad - The Moment of Truth

Pretty, interesting story, but boring. Had to try hard not to pass out. The Russian voice actors need to learn to put emotion in their work and not just read off the script.

Really weird how it uses real world interview footage of actual Russian historians and veterans on the overlap of something so over the top and fantastical as if this is supposed to lend it any sort of historical legitimacy whatsoever. The story itself is immensely boring, with a protag who's annoyingly hapless and a narrative that provides little beef for the scale of events it likes to portray. Visually it's passable, but the Russian voice actors have no emotion and the writing is schlocky.

The animation is undeniably impressive and very atmospheric. Everything else however is shockingly awful. Devoid of any sort of coherent storyline or plot, the whole thing is a complete mess, and the characters are irritating fuckheads. Really not worth your time.
