Here's the thing. Bruce is great. That being said his movies have not aged well. His thing was, I am the badass and will destroy almost everyone with nary a glancing blow against him. Which is cool, the world had never really had that before. But people took what he did and made themselves better, fights were better, movies were better. So I give it extra points out of respect, but those new to Bruce Lee, may not see what all the fuss is about.

Good kung-fu action. "The Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves" scene from Kill Bill owes everything to this movie's first action scene--which also stands as cinema's model for the "one versus many" action scene. It crosses the line of insanity in the latter half (Lee in the disguises makes me giggle) but it's all a part of its 70s charm.

Bruce Lee's best film. Taking on the Japanese dojo singlehandedly is iconic.

Viewed September 22, 2021. I was surprised by how much running time Bruce Lee spends wandering around in silly disguises, but that’s undoubtedly a positive attribute.

Completely ferocious & unflinching martial arts blast. The story is a bit clumsily told but has an interesting conflict between honor, peace and justice that is taken to a grim & logical conclusion. The lack of narrative finesse is fully compensated by truly amazing fight scenes just bursting with raw energy. Bruce Lee is at his finest and carries the film perfectly. A true masterpiece of raw action cinema somewhat undermined by unnecessarily sappy heroics & uncomfortable racial attitudes.

Like pretty much every Bruce Lee movie it contains a pretty shallow plot, poor acting but absolutely incredible fight scenes. Watching Bruce Lee kick ass in a kung-fu film like only he can is a real wonder to behold. Even though everything but the action is poor you can totally see just how incredibly skilled Lee was. In short, see it for the action.

Bruce Lee is outstanding in the lead role of this film. There are plenty of exciting action scenes in this movie. The script has a simple story but it works. Overall I would highly recommend this classic action film!

Gotta love Bruce Lee! In his film that encouraged pride in Chinese culture and rising against oppression, Lee shows off some of his greatest moves, and introduces his signature weapon: the nunchaku! This is the movie that proves that Lee wasn't just a martial artist: he was an icon.

I imagine the Japanese and Russians are not fans of this flick! I am neither Japanese nor Russian, so I can just enjoy Lee executing some incredible poses and moving his body in such a way than it becomes a deadly weapon; you really cannot look away. Unfortunately, the background story is little more than a platform for Lee to jump into action, which is a shame as the man can seriously act (see his impersonation of a telephone technician and his potential sexual chemistry with Nora Miao).

Frankly, aside from Enter the Dragon, I don't think Bruce ever achieved his full potential in film or even matched what Shaw Bros. had going on at the time. But in terms of martial arts choreography, he more than brings it in this film. The film suffers from overlength and a tedious plot, but the unconventional ending and memorable villains go a long way.

Standard issue martial arts exploitationer raised from the doldrums by Lee's iconic skill and talent; much better if viewed as a Lee showcase interspersed with irrelevant "talky" bits, as some tedious plotting issues drag the film down - film also seems to run far past its natural climax when Lee and Baker's Gene Wilder impersonator have their mano-a-mano. Still fun enough and likely to appeal more dependent on your love for the genre.

Daaamn, Bruce Lee kicks so much ass in this one! The story is not the most subtle one (the agenda really hits you in the face with a fist... of fury) but I didn't mind. Bruce Lee gets to show a dramatic side along with just beating up a whole bunch of people and looking cool while doing it. Loved his disguises ranging from 'I am wearing a hat' to 'harmless old man' and 'nerdy telephone repair dude'. Just solid action, enjoyed all the fights.

Lee's star persona was defined with F.O.F, which was a considerable improvement on The Big Boss in all respects, boasting superior staging and camera work and a more complex and involving (but still simplistic) plot. The Leone style mythicism is corny but it works, lending the death duels an epic quality that belies their skeletal settings. Lee was also granted more control over the fight choreography, resulting in a belligerent balletic theatricality that was ferocious and massively influential.

Action-wise, it is far better than "Enter the Dragon", but the plot is so terribly shallow that I got annoyed to the point of anger at this movie. If rated only on the action and completely disregarding the terrible ending, I'd say this one is a definite watch, but other than that it's a pretty miserable movie.

Some of the fight scenes were impressive, mainly the ones with Bruce Lee doing his lightning fast stuff and nunchakuing people on the head left right and centre. Others were rather badly choreographed, with senseis swatting students away like flies and dubbed punch noises popping up in all the wrong places. Anything that wasn't a fight scene was pretty awful, and the story was totally uninteresting. Not helped by the American dubbed version. Nice ripping-off of Sergio Leone by the director.

Lee is one crazy motherfucker! Spending his time growling, killing and hanging people, so needless to say, cool fights occur and people are broken.. Deeply indebted to Westerns, and in particular the revisionists, it offers some bad-ass moments from Lee's antihero, but in the end it gets a bit boring when he isn't brutalizing someone

This is the standard for true martial arts movie capabilities! The story is emotionally driven, the characters are sympathetic and despicable as needed, and of course, Lee's fighting skills are on full display! From start to finish, the movie delivers one groundbreaking action scene to another, with each one as engaging as the last.

A solemn antidote to the high-flying melodrama of the Shaw Brothers. Bruce Lee shoulders the weight of the film on his eye-popping physique - it's bog-standard martial arts revenge narrative stuff, but buoyed by Lee's explosive fight scenes (refreshingly no-nonsense) and his intense and unwavering Chinese patriotism in the face of Japanese bigotry.

A good watch for anyone curious about the prototypical Chen Zhen character and the iconic fight scenes. A guilty pleasure for the rampant Chinese nationalism and the hate against Japanese imperialism, as well as Bruce Lee's wacky disguises. Other than that, the story's pretty clunky and not for those who aren't fans of Bruce Lee.

This is clearly a bigger and more polished film than preceding Big Boss, and it feels partially inspired by the Leone westerns. Lee's character is like bottled rage, hell-bent on avenging his master without thinking about consequences. He's actually bordering on being unsympathetic. Fight scenes are great, Lee's sounds are cool, but the tempo slows down considerably during the middle, when his character goes into hiding and it just starts to wear you out. That's why I prefer Big Boss as a whole.
