If Randel had just owned this movie's status as a B-movie, it would've ended up entertaining. He tried to use the restriction of shooting on a backlot as an excuse to make an Old Hollywood film, but like The Shadow, he let that trick him into believing he could make something good. As it stands, this movie doesn't entertain enough with its badness to overcome the boredom, a tragedy when a movie has veteran hams like Howard, Penn, McDowell, Mandylor, and Downtown Julie Brown.

Audiences without any prior knowledge or exposure to the original source material will still find this, on its own merit, a poor movie. Cheap production aside, for a movie about a legendary martial arts warrior most of the fights featured in the film are fairly unimpressive. Instead most of the movie's entertainment comes from the poorly acted B-movie schlock. Unfortunately, there isn't enough of that present in the movie to make-up for all the rest that is simply boring and generic.

They ruined Kenshiro's ATATATATATATATATA!!!! That is like, the biggest sin you could commit in any cinematic piece.
