Flight Lieutenant

Alcoholism destroys a man's life, and a hero-worshiping son drives him to seek redemption. The story is wrapped around flying and not very interesting.

Glenn Ford as a test pilot, following in his screen-dad Pat O'Brien's footsteps. With O'Brien being a disgraced pilot results in a fairly sappy scenario. Tries a lot of emotional tricks which doesn't really convince. Neither does the lead actors, as they're barely able to deliver on the material given. Does try a lot of angles to make the story interesting, so it doesn't bore, but as it stands, it doesn't impress either.
