Professor Phillip Brainard, an absent minded professor, works with his assistant Weebo, trying to create a substance that's a new source of energy and that will save Medfield College where his sweetheart Sara is the president. He has missed his wedding twice, and on the afternoon of his third wedding, Professor Brainard creates flubber, which allows objects to fly through the air. I looks like rubber, so he calls it flubber. This film is based on the 1961 Disney classic, "The Absent-Minded Professor. (imdb)

An exquisitely painful experience. I’m pretty sure that even if I’d seen this as a kid back in 1997 I’d have been cringing and putting my head in my hands at some of these “comedic” sequences.

I like Robin Williams. He is a fantastic comedian. I think he just has a bad agent. Or maybe he just needed the money and Disney is a good paying gig. I don't know. But this is another mediocre film by WIlliams. He can make great films: The Birdcage, Bicentennial Man, What Dreams May Come, Good Will Hunting, The Fisher King, Good Morning, Vietnam, and Dead Poets Society. This is not one of them.

Robin Williams and some dancing goo. Not good, but a mostly harmless kids film, with the exception of a few kinda creepy scenes that will make you wonder how they ended up in the final cut.

Disappointing remake of Disney's _The Absent-Minded Professor_ is aptly retitled.Special-effects advancements made in the intervening years, as well as particular innovations provided by Industrial Light and Magic, make the invention rather than the inventor (Williams) the film's star. Williams simply reacts to the hyperactive green goo, allowing it to steal every scene. Ho hum... nothing new here.

Just-passable kiddie film lacks any sort of plot or purpose which essentially turns it into a series of slapstick scenes hastily stitched together (and some moments of wheel-spinning padding like the interminable flubber dance number). Williams is always fun to watch, but the film wastes him in a way by curbing his verbal schtick and upping the physical comedy, which he doesn't seem particularly comfortable with. Fairly bland but likable enough within its limitations.

Probably not as bad as it's made out to be, but far worse than I remember it being as a kid. The story is essentially an excuse to include as much poorly-done slapstick in as short amount of time as possible, and the Doctor's relationship with Weebo is creepily sexist. Everyone hates on the dancing goo but strangely, I thought that was the best part, actually.

Flubber is possibly one of the most moronic films Ive ever seen. I do recall enjoying it as a kid but looking back its so bad. And to think that it's a Disney production that's also had involvement from John Hughes is baffling. The films only saving grace is the star quality of the great Robin Williams. This is definitely one of, if not his worst film. And regardless of all the great performances he's given over the years, you have to question how on earth he accepted roles like this.

That was cute. It's definitely a 90s movie and has it's flaws but I still loved it. It's a nice blast from the past and it's typical Robin Williams being his fun and goofy self. Go into this movie expecting 90s goofiness - bad guys being bad for the sake of being bad, shockingly good CGI for Flubber (not so much for the basketball), and some goofy or not totally believable storylines.
