The creators at Aardman Animation switch from plasticine puppets to computer animation but adhere to their design aesthetic (those oblong mouths) and general sensibilities. It's wryly funny, infused with a gentle spirit and unapologetically British. We're a long way from the breathtaking brilliance of the original Creature Comforts or the Wallace and Gromit shorts (or even the wily wit of Chicken Run) but it's all good natured enough to make for an engaging, if somewhat unmemorable, diversion.

I probably would have liked this film if anyone other than Peter Lord directed it. I hate this style of animation now. Despise it. And I don't really care for the British, either.

Hilarious. Aardman might have swapped plastacine for pixels but its hasn't damaged there story telling abilities. Had me laughing all the way though. Has a few misses her and there, but what film doesn't (and they don't detract in the least)?

I'm a big Aardman fan but watching a CGI version of their stop motion animation style just feels weird. At the same time the imagination and humour you would expect from Aardman are still present and there are elements there that will entertain viewers of all ages. Also a few bonus points for the slugs who are like prototype minions in their ability to steal their scenes they are in to great effect.

Extemely funny and witty. loved every minute, especially the singing slugs. (you'll see.) some really gross humor if you pay clooooose attention. DVD has a GREAT commentary.

Not outstanding, and marred by some rather crude humor, but generally amusing and fun. While not all of the humor worked with me, many places I found quite funny. The animation, voice work, and incredibly detailed sets were also great, and the characters were likable, expressive and realistic. Not a favorite of mine, but fun.

It is baffling that this came from Aardman Animation. Their first, and as of yet only, computer animated film, it does have its moments, and the scenes involving the comedy slugs are funny, but it feels extremely cheap and sloppily made from a company known for delicate, well made works, with no real drive or plot behind it except to push a few pop culture references and a couple of occasionally funny jokes.

The animation is charming at best, and the environment should keep you interested until the credits roll, but the story, characters, and performance feel uninspired and unimaginative.

Enjoyable rat-out-of-water caper which borrows liberally from certain specific action and comedy subgenres without owing too much to any other animated film in particular. The film's production is solid on all fronts, the characters are memorable and visually interesting, and the action sequences are both frenetic and cleanly shot which is satisfying. The plot may not be super ambitious but it didn't stop me appreciating the levels of fun and humour expected from Aardman's producers.

With likable characters who are well developed (enough), Flushed Away brings all of it's entertainment out with a god script, good animation, and some good humor in the characters.

Accept for a moment that this is a cartoon, and that cartoons are almost always cartoonish. In other words, violent on one level or another. The most noticeable leaks in Flushed Away's pipes are, then, Rita's never-resolved obsession with the ruby (which at times seems to go beyond her desire to help her family) and her flippant, often abrasive interactions with almost everyone she meets. The transition from stop-motion claymation to computer animation yields a disappointing effort from Aardman. They manage to retain their trademark character design, and their wit shines through from time to time, but the efforts are wasted on this story. Call it their Cars, except the world created here isn't nearly as interesting as Lasseter's. It's certainly not bad, but with the talent involved, I expected a lot more.

Really not what I expected from it. The only "funny" things we see are 'kick-to-the-nuts-jokes', the story is just lame, and it just isn't worked oput properly. Don't care watching this..

One of the worst animated films I've seen in a long while, and a massive disappointment coming from Aardman. Let's just throw in as many jokes as possible, who cares if they're unfunny! Kill 'em with quantity!

Has some great moments, but for Aardman this is very much below par. The humour shines through however, making you wonder what the film would have been like had Aardman been given full involvement. Still, hardly the worst animation out there.

Poor story, average animation, mediocre voice talent and too few jokes for adults relegate this below many of the seven billion talking animal CGI efforts made so far. Aardman should stick to the stop-motion stuff.

As much as I WANT to hate the concept here, I just don't. This movie is SO creative. All the gags just work for me - particularly the slugs, who are quite possibly the most unexpected, successful comic relief in any DreamWorks film. It's not without its flaws, but there's so much here that's just so off-the-wall and hilarious, that if it weren't for a couple of narrative missteps, this would be far and away my favorite Aardman movie. As it stands, Chicken Run is still ever-so-slightly better.

Story is very thin, with huge gaps of boring that they try to fill with some really funny frogs. We love Aardman, and wish they'd been able to make the film unimpeded. Visuals were nice and designs were great. But the film is very boring.

Despite the switch to CGI, the animation style and the Britcentric sense of humour still remains identifiably Aardman, but for some reason it all feels incredibly generic and charmless. There are one or two funny gags scattered throughout, but it feels very thin even for 80 minutes. With the exception of McKellen, all the voice actors sound bored rigid.

It's generally unexciting, but there are enough funny parts (see: slugs) to make up for the fact that this doesn't live up to Wallace and Gromit. The animation looks like they're still imitating claymation, so everything looks made of plastic and it seems like the mouths cycle awkwardly between five different shapes when speaking. So, claymation's problems but not its charms.

The film loses many points for the formulaic design of the main characters which is typical for the writers of the film. However, the comedy, the minor characters, and the story are still good enough to be enjoyable.

A somewhat bland Aardman outing has most of the expected eccentric edges sanded off in favour of convention - still not a bad effort, with lively voice work by its cast compensating for the overly slick CGI which cannot compete with the hand-made feel of the WALLACE & GROMIT adventures. Has its charms, including the amusing singing slugs, which do their job with greater wit and style than the comparable Minions!

I am nicer to kids' movies, and this one can be good for kids. The style and claymation-inspired character design makes it so it slowed down the CGI's "aging" and make it still have appeal even 20 years later.
