Will Smith is like a drug you can't quit. You know he's going to ultimately disappoint you, but you go back for more every time. Even for a Will Smith movie, this was embarrassingly bad. The plot makes no sense and they push the limits of believability so much that you eventually tire of its tripe. Without Margot Robbie to look at there's literally nothing else.

Switched off after 20-25 minutes. It says a lot how bad a movie is when you can't even stick it out to look at Margot Robbie.

I hate to be a moral nag, but something just kinda BUGS ME about the fact that most of the "heist" targets in this film are just regular folks with no evidence that they are wealthy in any way. Like, I'm all for ripping off banks or mega companies or whatever in movies. Go forth and heist! But when you're stealing wallets and credits cards from just regular-ass people who probably now can't make rent or feed their kids, I'm just sitting here, like, wow, you dicks. Why should I root for you?

As ambient, but inconsequential and generic, as the cafe del mar style soundtrack that plays throughout. The small minded, prostitute level scams fail to make for interesting con jobs, which was all i was watching for. The age difference between Smith and Robbie is a bit off and feels like this should have starred Tom Cruise as another contrived exercise in portraying himself as a cocky but sensitive, ladycharming "heterosexual".

Focus is my kind of movie, and I don't think this works as well as it does (at least for me) if Will Smith and Margot Robbie aren't the leads. They both are so charismatic that they both could probably pull something on me. Regardless, I like how feelings and making the hard decisions are prevalent to this, and for a movie centered on manipulation and blatant lying, it's fun to watch these two things collide. I'm a sucker for stuff I can relate to, and I do a lot here.

For 30 minutes this is a tightly written and exciting conman film. But the last hour completely fails to build on the awesome start and the great chemistry between Smith and Robbie.

Focus is the type of movie that makes you feel like it robbed you, but not in the thrilling "How did you do that?" kind of way. Instead, you just feel a little disappointed that its 30-minute prologue was so much fun that it got you excited for the rest of the movie. You hope its big picture is more than it winds up being, and it is eventually too simplistic a story that adds up to too little to be worth the investment.

...I fucking adore this movie. Straight up. I don't take this seriously for a second and I think that's how you have to play it to enjoy it. I thought it was tremendously funny; Smith & Robie have oodles of chemistry. I love how it feels old-school with a modern presentation. I love how the picture literally loses focus when Smith's character is doing the same. I love that the sex scenes are "show less, suggest more". I love the soundtrack. I love the dialogue. Call me crazy - I loved "Focus"!

I clearly expected a more classic heist kind of movie, and that fact ended up disappointing me. It had a weird tempo and couldn't decide whether to be witty or dramatic, nor balance between the two. Robbie though, is a fox and gives a fine performance! *Okay

The halfway point promises another story altogether - one of comeuppance and character, not a second caper that's more poorly thought out than the first one. That said, this is visually appealing, even works out a unique tone of editing, and breezes by.

It's a fun movie, and I really enjoyed both Will Smith & Margot Robbie. My big complaint is that it feels like two disconnected movies. Once the second half begins, it relegates the entire first half of the movie to backstory that could have been revealed through exposition. I would have preferred to see either of the two halves expanded on versus feeling like I got two separate 45 minute films.

If you want to see REALLY nice comedy of conning, tune on to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988). Or if you are interested of pickpocketing, check Pickpocket (1959) by Robert Bresson, and there the famous railway station scene.

Probably one of the most beautiful actresses I've ever seen on this planet (Margot Robbie). But the movie sucked. Robbie however has potential as an actress. I would like to see her in more of the typical roles that Charlize Theron plays. Something with more substance than popular box office appeal.

While the movie should have been a perfectly pure moviestar vehicle for Will Smith and Margot Robbie (who are both great in this), the far-fetched (and ultimately nonsensical) plot and deadweight finale make this otherwise engaging film land with a major thud. It doesn't help that without Smith's natural charm, his con-man character hasn't a hint of likability.

You know, as long as you don't take this movie seriously at all, it's actually quite enjoyable. Nothing in it makes any sense at all, but the acting is really good across the board, and it's got a kickass soundtrack.

The first act is fun, funny, works to set the premise, and is a little bit ridiculous. Still, I was prepared to buy in. By the climax, the plot is so jumbled and nonsensical that it brought the movie down quite a bit. Margot Robbie is probably the most attractive woman in Hollywood right now, so that certainly makes it go down a little smoother.

For like a grimy pickpocket's hand, the movie leaves something behind as it executes its cinematic feint. We're left with some dirty mental fingerprints made up of an abundance of foul language and crude dialogue mixed with some sexy, fleshy visuals. And we're left with the unfocused idea that well-executed lies, thefts and cons are something quite special and beautiful to behold. (pluggedin.com)

Focus (2015) is a movie that tries hard to fool 'ya. So much that they even trick you into thinking it's gonna be a crappy movie with a real lame start. Don't get scared away, it gradually gets better. Will Smith and the conman enterprises manages to entertain above expectations with some key scenes. On top of that Neighbours' Margot Robbie looked damn hot and actually managed to fit in A-list game. I still loved "Chubby 55" the best!

They thought it was a great idea to make yet another con-movie, in which not only the movie characters, but also the viewer is conned all the way through. It's a rightful stab at entertainment, and I would say it's entertaining 33% of the time. Other than that it's a dumb movie that I sacrificed myself watching.

I must admit, it did hold my focus. I won't give any credit to Will Smith though. I think they could have replaced him with anybody and we wouldn't notice. The person who took all the oxygen out of the room and made your head turn was Margot Robbie. She is stunning as usual in this crime movie. I loved all the little plot devices and backstabbings that went on throughout the film. I was never really able to guess where they were going, even though some clues...

An Ocean's Eleven-style film featuring several of the most nonsensical plot devices you are likely to see this year. Thankfully, Will Smith is on better form than in films like Hancock or WWW, and Margot Robbie looks absolutely phenomenal, drop-dead sex-bomb gorgeous. Along with the expensive-looking settings, slick cinematography and editing, there's enough to salivate over to make me partially forgive the braindead writing and twists. Better with the sound off.

There are so many unsolved problems about this movie. But it's a classic "pick pockets trying to hit a big one" movie so doesn't offer much. Despite that, the harmony between Will Smith and Margot Robbie is so good. It's not a must but decent enough to watch, especially to spend some free time.

Well made film with many twists and turns in it. The cinematography is very good with good use of indoor and outdoor sets. The whole thing is a bit far-fetched, but whatever it's a movie and its a hoot. Robbie lights up the screen whenever she's on, and some of the supporting characters are entertaining and have the best comedic lines.

Focus is disappointingly nonsensical and unlikable. I really wanted to enjoy this film and Will Smith & Margot Robbie make for an exciting duo. I love Will Smith, as does everyone, but the reality is he hasn't delivered for a long time. And I hoped this would be a worthy and long overdue hit for him. But the concept pushes the boundaries of stupidity and my intelligence was insulted. Will Smith & Margot Robbie have chemistry, but it isn't enough to carry or salvage this surprisingly dull film.

Perfectable acceptable popcorn grifter/con flick with attractive leads. Smith really does have charisma & star power charm far beyond his only B+ looks & good physique. Robbie has a gorgeous face but is nowhere near as sexy, or impressive an actress, here as she is as Harley Quinn. If U like slick heist/con movies this is a fair way to kill 2 hours. However, not a patch on The Sting, Matchstick Men, Oceans 11, Catch Me If You Can etc etc

Will Smith & Margot Robbie are con people who steal, pick pocket people for a living. In this movie they do 2 huge jobs. 1 for 1.2 million dollars with a group & the other was a con job on the car races. They have love relationship. Will keeps Margot in the dark about things. Ending was cool. Realistic movie as things can happen in real life. They explain all the psychology that goes down in this movie how to pick pocket like the movie Casino where they give you a education on that.

Lots to like. Some of the action was riveting, but the big twist reveals were not good. They intended mind blowing moments with surprise reveals, but what they delivered was hokey & unrealistic. Acting was decent, and the very beautiful Margot Robbie was a standout. Great production quality and good music. The writing was sometimes clever but not polished. The two biggest reveals were surprising but entirely unconvincing and drags down an otherwise great movie.
