This courtroom and crime drama is actually a thinly veiled chronicle of the notorious exploits of former Big Apple assistant district attorney William Fallon. In this version, lawyer William Foster finds himself convicted of jury tampering and is sent to prison where he must face many of the people he jailed while working closely with the Mafia. Many of these people were innocent. The attorney must also leave his true love. (allrovi.com)

A little too compressed into 65 minutes for its own good.

This time William Powell is a criminal lawyer setting half the city's unlawful free giving the police a headache. The romance side it was a bit weird as the chemistry between Powell and Kay Francis didn't shine through in this film. But this worked mostly because of Powell being the clever shyster lawyer and some curious supporting cast members such as James Finlayson (mostly associated with Laurel & Hardy films), almost unrecognizable without his mustache!

William Powell was quite good here, Kay Francis wasn't and everyone else did okay. For an early talkie with was pretty decent and the film was short and well paced. I would've liked to have seen more scenes in the courtroom but I was happy with what I got. I felt bad for Powell's character but thems the breaks.
