Forbidden Paradise is a 1924 American silent drama film produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was directed by German film director Ernst Lubitsch. The film is based on a 1922 Broadway play, The Czarina, by Edward Sheldon who adapted the Hungarian language book of Melchior Lengyel and Lajos Bíró. The film starred Pola Negri as Catherine the Great and Rod La Rocque in the Rathbone role.

....no start, no end, unreadable title-cards, bleak picture and only 50 of the original 76 minuets available.... that's the status of the print I saw of Ernst Lubitsch 4th Hollywood film - Forbidden Paradise (1924). At least most of the film is intact, giving an idea what the film was about. The femme fatal Pola Negri with Adolphe Menjou there as the manipulator and Rod La Rocque as the man in trouble. You quickly get the sense of flirtatious danger, but there isn't much payoff.
