With no knowledge of the source material, or even that this movie was a sequel to the film "The Guns of Navarone"(1961), I began my watch of this late 70's WWII action/adventure movie because it has the word 'force' in the title, which is why it was a part of "Force-a-thon" part deux. Luckily for me, a group of recognizable names/faces helped push this entertaining little war film along. Not really great, but overall it's really solid lazy afternoon cable fodder to watch inside your uncle's den.

Extended cut. Haven't watched the first one or the theatrical cut to compare. Solidly average. Good cast and interesting characters. Long moments of dullness. Barbara Bach's character was featured on the cover but she disappears halfway through the film. Franco Nero played a good villain. Even Harrison Ford admits he was miscast. Robert Shaw had a lot more charm. Fav scene: dam.

Decent movie. The cast was enough to keep me entertained.

Rousing sequel, oddly with none (?) of the original cast - but it doesn't seem to matter. It's more fun than your traditional war films, thanks to a focus on small, close-knit groups of men, high mobility, double-crossing, diverse enemies and some stunning locations. Carl Weathers might seem like a bit of stunt casting but he does bring charisma and make things more fun. A good match for Alistair MacLean's brand of fiction aimed at excitable young men and boys.

Very entertaining WWII adventure with a nice cast. Don't come expecting serious war movie, Hamilton had only one aim - to entertain men, and he succeeds plenty.

came for the cast and stayed because they did a good job and the movie wasn't awful. it's no classic, and the story is just an excuse for set-pieces -- it's just a straight-forward popcorn macho movie

Interesting to see Shaw as a good guy, he does alright but is better as a bad guy.

A little off and a little odd. Good Saturday afternoon on the sofa material.

Fun WWII Movie, Unfortunately it has some silly goofs. Like one of the characters that used to speak German, but seemed to have a complete blackout in the this one.

Probably the weakest movie based on an Alistair MacLean novel. The plot was interesting, but the real sink was the banal performance by a young Harrison Ford. The normally intense Ford, fresh from his Star Wars performance, was utterly unconvincing as an elite military Lt. Colonel

Not a patch on the original Navarone film.

Hamilton blows the build up, but the sabotage scene makes up for it. You could do worse.
