A documentary which raises several important questions through following its protagonist. Although these questions are admittedly both complex and difficult, one is nevertheless left feeling as though it may have been possible to penetrate these questions a little further than the filmmakers succeeded in doing.

Raises some complex questions about forgiveness. How does one forgive those who are not able to apologize or atone? What gives someone the right to forgive? And what does it really mean to forgive? This film allows several people to present their take on these issues, and while it centers on Ana Kor, it doesn't tout her beliefs as the correct answers. Indeed, she often seems to misunderstand what forgiveness is. Doesn't bring anything new to the art of documentary, but the content is interesting

"The film's visual style is unremarkable and includes some really jejune transpositions and graphic matches the filmmakers use to bridge the past and present, but the woman's memories are vivid enough without such affectations." - Ed Gonzalez

A wonderful meditation on the depths of evil and the extent to which one can (or should) forgive. Many offer their ideas on forgiveness, often in conflict with the views of the protagonist, holocaust survivor Eva Kor. Her striving for self-healing is admirable, as her experience offers weight to her choices--she cannot simply be dismissed. The visual style is a bit too simple, but the film addresses, in an incisive way, questions that are central to what it means to be human.
