Keep in mind that this was the sound era, I'm not sure if I'd call it a extremely brave decision or a super lazy one to insert 21 minutes of Cecil B. DeMille's legendary silent film The Ten Commandments (1923) into this for moral effect. Considering that's 1/3rd of the entire run-time, and the rest of the scenario was set in a incredibly poorly done Russian surroundings, I'll go with lazy. Best I can say about the film was that Irving Pichel displayed some cynical qualities.
