A disappointing action adventure time-travel film aimed squarely at Russian 14-year-olds. Clearly Russian cinema is becoming more and more Americanised. A decade earlier, a blockbuster like Night Watch was praised for being progressive and creative, yet it resembled nothing that ever came from the West. Nowadays, a popular Russian mainstream film feels identical to the garish style of action comedy that Hollywood spoon feeds American teenagers. Avoid this Californicated cultural product.
