Argento gets experimental and it works! This sort of reminds me of Abel Ferrara's 'Driller Killer', only better and more exciting.

"Oh, you heterosexuals"...lol Typically stylish, over-the-top Argento decoction with hyper-Hitchcock touches, but a lot of fun nonetheless, and despite the fact that I solved the mystery pretty early (for once!). The PI and the mailman in particular were a hoot.

First Argento flick I've seen, not bad. Nice visuals with lots of style in that way only late 60s/70s flicks can manage. Like a slightly more surreal Hitchcock, but the big reveal was too easy to guess beforehand. I guess the 40 year interlude has left movie watchers a little better able to read the clues. Still a worthwhile way to kill a couple of hours.

Argento's lost gem with all the elements that make his films great - beautiful architecture, inventive camerawork and above all a surreal, overwhelming sense of doom. A little more linear for him (although its looser and weirder than the other entries in the "animal trilogy") but immensely entertaining.

Another enjoyable Argento giallo jaunt. Visually impressive, with some interesting characters and some funky sounds. There are a couple of genuinely tense moments, in particular the park sequence. As is so often the case with films like this, the denouement is a bit out there, but seems to work well in this instance. Brandon, whom I remember from the TV series Dempsey and Makepeace, is quite watchable in the lead role, and Bud Spencer and Mimsy Farmer put in decent shifts. Worth watching.

The story itself is pretty dull and the acting isn't great but the direction and cinematography were inventive and fun. This also gets bonus points for having Bud Spencer in it. The soundtrack ranges from fitting to annoying sometimes in the same scene.

Transitional Argento is an early showcase for tricks he would use to better and worse (i.e. excessive) effect shortly thereafter. For fans, it is worth seeing for 2-3 standout scenes, including a tense park sequence and a near surreal car crash with glass shattering in elegant slo-mo. The rest is business as usual, although it's slightly looser, funnier and less pretentious than films he made after he achieved fame.

It's essentially a proto-slasher flick, but it sucks, bad writing, bad acting, bad direction. You can skip anything Argento did before 1975, I'd actually propose you could forget Argento all together. Susperia is the best remembered of his films for a reason. but at least there's Bud Spencer, am I right?

I found it pretty flat for Argento. But some pretty neat and inventive kills along with creepy atmospherics give us a hint of the magic that is to come.

Not Argento at his best but the aesthetics and the ingredients for a better thriller are clearly showing. Beautiful ending.

Much like "Cat o' Nine Tails", I don't find this one to be very compelling. It's not bad. It's mildly stylish and fairly incoherent. A fairly run of the mill giallo. I think Mimsy Farmer is kind of awful in this film, which is unusual. The final reveal in this feels like it was just made up on the spot. It's about as completely disconnected from the rest of the film as possible.

Not terribly impressive in terms of plot, but the camerawork more than makes up for it.

This was my 2nd watch and I actually enjoyed this lesser seen entry of Argento's Animal Trilogy more than Cat O'nine tails. It's more experimental than the others, has quirky characters (Bud Spencer) and goofy humor that sometimes miss the mark. There are also some out there scenes like the ending which almost goes to Scifi territory and the killer's motivation/monologue which doesn't work that well. But there are also skillful & suspenseful scenes and a funky soundtrack by Morricone.
