Four Frightened People

Marvellous. Colbert's speach at the end encapulates everything I love about movies, and everything lacking in contemporary cinema, all the imagination and possility and romance. If you're looking for a movie to watch tonight, choose this one.

This movie was all over the place in terms of acting, story, and tone. Claudette Colbert was the highlight and I really need to watch more of her films.

Weirdly alternates between goofy and sexually provocative. Glad it was filmed on location, though, because it looks amazing.

Stick to producing epics Mr. DeMille! With this he kind of goes back to his roots of the kind of films he made about 15 years earlier and takes some of the Robinson Crusoe elements from his own "Male and Female (1919)". 4 civilized people gets trapped in the jungle together and goes back to basic. And it all is rather silly and light. Like a simple filler movie for DeMille in between the epics. Even with excellent players in Claudette Colbert and Herbert Marshall this never get very interesting.

Relatively few people have seen this -- especially for a De Mille movie -- but this is a pretty damn good adventure picture
