I like Glenn Ford in this kind of role, the smart protagonist who isn't always quite smart enough. Barry Sullivan is always fun, too. Janis Carter isn't the greatest femme fatale, but she has a strong presence. This is very standard stuff, but with a few nice details. This movie doesn't pack any surprises, I kept thinking of ways in which it could have been more interesting. Still, it's fun and it's tight, very story-driven but an entertaining story. The performances make it worthwhile.

Ford plays the stranger new into town and chosen for a patsy, but he's far from a helpless figure which allows for genuine tension throughout the film as he keeps threatening to elude the traps set for him. He's the core of the film and a great noir lead, but it wouldn't be what it is without Janis Carter as the femme fatale. The script is interesting too, not the greatest or most complex but it plays with that fine line between normal society and the underworld really well.

The movie starts with great momentum with Glenn Ford driving a truck full speed down a hill and keeps the pace going well after that. The plot is tight, while not being the most original it keeps being engaging because Ford's character is not a complete sap, who unknowingly almost escapes the trap set for him a few times. A textbook example of something simple and by the books done very well.

It had all the ingredients to be a good film but needed a better femme fatale to carry the story.

Not crazy about Carter as the femme fatale, but with many of the familiar tropes present and correct, this is nevertheless a completely solid entry in the film noir canon.

Enjoyed the progress of Ford getting to realise he’s being framed. A standard noir plot and atmosphere with decent storytelling.

The best thing about Framed (1947) was the way Janis Carter was captured every time she was up to no good. You could see it in her face that her mind was working on some devious scheme! Love that! The plot is not bad either, but it lacked a little punch to deliver on its potential.

Nice way to kick off Noirvember 23. It starts with a bang; Ford steering an out of control truck on narrow roads and city streets. It then evolves into a proper Noir. Ford is good as the down on his luck engineer who has issues with liquor, and Carter is very good as the femme fatale. Supporting cast is solid as well. There were some surprises along the way and I especially enjoyed the mining plot-line. It does get more routine towards the end, but I'd still rank it among the better B-Noirs.
