Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell
Though it wasn't Hammer Studios' final film, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell can be considered its swan song, an intelligent, inventive, stylized reworking of the themes that had sustained the series for almost two decades. Dr. Frankenstein has buried his old identity and reigns over an insane asylum as Dr. Victor (Peter Cushing under a flamboyant blond wig in his sixth and final turn as the mad scientist) as if it were a live-parts yard for his continuing experiments... The asylum's a fresh set-up & the always compelling Cushing gets a good intro, but meeting the inmates initially feels a lot like a tangent & even after the plot comes together, it's not much of one. It's slow & padded with a 60's version of gore. The good parts highlight Frankenstein's evilly callous indifference to the pain of others, but there's not much of that. This is also far cheaper-looking than the other entries esp The Monster's egregiously schlocky makeup.

A nice change of pace from the average Frankenstein film but it's too slow paced with a lackluster ending.

Certainly the goriest of Hammer's Frankenstein films, but in terms of plot and characters it's just the same-old same-old. The first hour is pretty dull, and while it picks up a bit towards the end, it doesn't do anything to break the formula I've already seen numerous times before in previous efforts. This also has the most ridiculous looking monster out of all the Frankenstein films made by Hammer.

I like to imagine the original design for the monster was this amazing thing but the guy in charge of designing him total forgot to actually make it and in a blind panic just whipped up the most ridiculous looking Frankenstein monster to ever grace the screen. It is AMAZING.

Chillin' with the OG is very educational when it comes to re-animation. The photography is quite striking.

Em honra de David Prowse (1935 - 2020). Em 74 a Hammer já estava chafurdando na lama com essas sequências sem fim, esse eterno retorno ao mesmo ponto acaba sendo embaraçoso e enfadonho. BlurayRip RARBG.

Very mediocre story, which didn't live up to the "Monster from Hell" title but Peter Cushing is the only catalyst that kept the story somewhat interesting.

I haven't seen very much Hammer film, but this has to be the most grotesque/brutal I've seen yet. Fisher depicts everything in its grotesque charm and shoots the film in a solid, elegant way, without being flamboyant.
