Fraud

Uh, ethically questionable, surely? I and a filmgoing companion were both convinced ALL of it was fake; it's far-fetched, but pretty much seamless, using techniques first proposed by theorists in film's infancy to, well, commit a fraud of its own.

Tries to imitate the style of Youtube videos and blur the lines between fiction and reality, which, if achieved, could be something valuable. But here, we have rather a classical (and not credible) narrative structure a la Fargo, unsuccessfully feigning to be a home video. Who would film his house when he burned it to get money from insurance? Or the warrant mail? A tricky cheap idea doesn't suffice to make a good movie.
