Interesting how a middle-aged woman hitting on a teenage boy is wacky Disney fun while a middle aged man hitting on a teenage girl is Hard Candy.

Elevated mostly by the acting, but the second half turns into long slapstick scenes that drag on and on toward a sitcom-y ending. I must try to remember how smooth the first half was. Overall, very nearly the same movie as Mr. Mom.

In a lot of ways this movie has aged like fine milk; it sounds silly but I'm actually being serious when I say that the body swap subgenre has grown a lot since this film and its episodic nature feels kind of clunky. Also weird that the switched mom and daughter have ZERO scenes together while switched. Young Jodie Foster is charming enough though and there's a few chuckles here and there.

Fun enough for families I guess, but might have to explain old women hitting on teens. Its perplexing why there weren't more scenes of the the two switcherinis together, post switch?

I'm holding the makers of this film personally responsible for every remake of this terrible movie.

Fun movie for its time. This is the type of movie though that can benefit from updating every few decades (like with the LiLo remake).

Better than its awful remake. But that's not saying a lot.

I can't lie, I like the remake more. Foster, Harris & Astin are all good here & there are some funny moments, but for the most part it all feels pretty meh & there aren't really any particularly memorable scenes throughout the whole thing. It is hilariously 70's in every possible way, which is fun, but especially in the third act most of the comedy is just pure outrageous slapstick which didn't really work for me. Not bad, but nothing I'll be itching to rewatch either.

They don't make 'em like they used to. An excellent family film that strikes a near-perfect balance between comedy and pathos, and Barbara Harris turns in a great performance. I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.

Had seen the remakes first, honestly expected this to be a bit better given the talent involved. Sort of a one-note movie, might work better as a short film
