This funny animated movie begins when Reggie and Jake (both turkeys) meet up after Reggie is pardoned by the president so he won't have to become Thanksgiving dinner. He loves his new life because he has been adopted by the president's daughter. He feasts on pizza, TV and enjoys his leisurely life at Camp David. Jake on the other hand is on a mission to find Reggie and take a time-travel trip back to the first Thanksgiving in an attempt to remove their species from the menu.

Was expecting a Tofurkey: sustenance with no substance, and instead I got a Turducken: at least 4 crazy weighty concepts genetically spliced into a horrifying Frankenstein of a script, and it tasted like shit.

Patchy script with some great moments but big holes, inconsistent behaviour of the time machine and a BIG paradox at it's heart. That said it's a decent enough animated comedy with some very good moments. Not enough of them to make it a classic though.

Hold on to your Turducken! This animated movie about changing the past through time travel. They want people to eat pizza instead of turkey for Thanksgiving. It's a cute idea, and I must say I was happy to hear George Takei's voice as S.T.E.V.E. the time machine... but this film wasn't very good... [Full Review]

The start was well written, funny characters and the plot did not look bad. But soon the script went the way it should not and the rest was pretty painful. There was a joke about Finnish Angry Birds though.

One of 2013's weakest animated movies - and I've been disappointed by a good number this year, so alas, that is saying something. Low on laughs - heck, low on fun, full stop - and high on unnecessarily complex story, unimaginative creative work, and bizarre product placement. A few good lines save it from complete failure, but it's no Chicken Run. (It's not even an Epic.)

Weak story, for the most part. And then it comes to the end where, I don't think it's a spoiler to say that turkey is replaced on Thanksgiving with vegetarian friendly, Chucky Cheese cheese pizzas, logo and all--product placement to its cynical max.
And then there's the female turkey (the chick) with extra breast...meat.

I prefer the animated efforts that fly madly off the rails to those that hew blandly to formula, and this one's pretty nuts. Zany, outta-nowhere absurdist comic bits abound (Miles Standish's death reminded me of Hitler's in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) and then suddenly it gets all serious and action movie-ish. It ain't great, but roll with it and you'll stay reasonably entertained.

Or maybe all that's just indigestion-spurred cynicism and tryptophan bleariness. 'Cause mostly this is just a cutesy kids' pic that packs a few chuckles, a shallow life lesson or two, a couple of sweet moments, a little action and a whole lot of goofy silliness into a 90-minute dollop of pumpkin-pie whipped cream fluff. (Which makes me wonder if the sequel will focus on the revolt of the orange gourds.) (plugedin.com)
