Frenchman's Creek

Viewed January 18, 2022. Shot in gorgeous Technicolor, the film is highly detailed with a lot of obvious care put into the costumes and sets that helps Leisen's askew swashbuckling world come to life. But there's something missing behind all the decoration - namely, a feeling of passion. The lead performers both appear kind of lost and the narrative carelessly assembled.

Potential with a fun cast and a interesting choice as leading man, but the lack of action and general fumbling with the story kept it from become the thrilling swashbuckler if promised to be. At least you had a lot of dreadful wigs to adore.
