After enrolling in college, Sang-taek and Joong-ho return to visit Dong-su (Jang Dong-gun) and Joon-suk (Yoo Oh-sung), only to find one of them in jail and the other on drugs. Strong acting and an engaging story kept things interesting. I just wish there was more time to really delve into the four characters. It's rare that a 2 hour movie leaves me wanting more but this movie managed to make that happen.

This pulls off a difficult task. It's not easy to get your audience all misty about a gangster with a drug history, but by the end of the movie, I felt like I had grown up with all of the main characters and while they had certainly changed, but they were friends for good. I feel the same way about some of the friends I have. "Chingu" is stunning, it is powerful, it's gripping, and it captures a human essence that you can rarely see in a movie. I would definitely recommend it.

A very different beast from much of the rest of the overpopulated crowd of the South Korean gangster film, and one of the best for it. Friendship is obviously the central theme here, and it plays out beautifully and tragically amidst the gorgeously photographed Busan. Yu Oh-seong and Jang Dong-Kun are both fantastic as friends turned rivals, and special praise goes to Kwak Kyung-Taek for the script and directing. Overall a wonderfully constructed, very touching film.

When you read the title and you hear one of the characters say "I'm a gangster" you know where the plot is going. Not bad but nothing special, one scene I liked a lot was the one where they run through the streets as adolescents

A marvelous coming of age/gangster story about 4 boys from Pusan. Touching and well acted.
