As a high school project, this is remarkable. As an attempt to produce a complex marriage of drama, documentary and self-examination, it does not quite obtain the heights reached 20 years earlier in EDVARD MUNCH, perhaps lacking the extra dimension opened up by being able to visually explore the act of painting, but still stands as testament to how much can be achieved with very meagre resources, and how far cinema still has to go in terms of actualising its true aesthetico-political potential.
