Frontier Gal was supposed to have starred Universal's in-house exotics Jon Hall and Maria Montez, but shifting studio politics resulted in the substitution of Rod Cameron and Yvonne DeCarlo. Cameron plays a fugitive from justice, wrongly accused of killing his partner. DeCarlo is a raucous saloon singer, forced at gunpoint to marry Cameron. After a reasonably blissful wedding night, DeCarlo turns Cameron over to the law. (allrovi.com)

A loving abusive relationship! Would probable be hated by the passionless youth of today for it's violent nature, but Yvonne De Carlo can take care of herself! I'm amazed that they gave her and Rod Cameron another shot after the catastrophic Salome Where She Danced (1945). Best in the early parts, as the latter part gets a little mushy with the child and everything. But as long as the relationship was rough, this was almost a outrageous gem. Half-way a The Taming of the Shrew western.
