Terrific film, great atmosphere. I get a bit of a "western" vibe from it.

Decent genre mixing film, well-shot.

Entertaining crime story, but it's held together by threads and unravels in the second half. It does so in a way that's pretty consistent, though, so as silly as some things get it's not particularly jarring or disruptive, just a let down.

Genz is a really talented director and this off-beat noir tale of his works both as a stylish genre film and a black comedy.

Kind of a noir League of Gentleman in the Danish bog, this sort of fell between two stools for me: the black comedy was not quite funny or black enough. That said, there's nice camerawork and an interesting setting.

Taking cues from FARGO, this is a trim and efficient saga, even if some of the distinctive particulars of the locale aren't as exploited as well as they could have been (it would have been great to see more of the bog and the dark secrets it holds). Moves quickly enough to not give you enough time to ponder some implausibilities in the screenplay, especially relating to Cedergren's haunted protagonist – some of his decisions may have made more sense if we knew more about his shadowy past.

aka (something rotten in jutland) add one mysterious femme, an odd mix of local characters, a reoccurring nighttime pram stroll, disappearing bodies....and you get one interesting dramatic danish delight. p.s.: you won't have to scrape away the boggy muck to see the coenesque fingerprints all over this one.

Definitely a fun foreign watch. The story and acting are pretty good. Always has you on the edge of your seat. Shows what small towns are really made of, all over the world.

It plays like a mystery at first, but halfway through drops most the intrigue of that to become a standard drama/thriller. I actually found the change interesting and welcome despite not liking the actual plot point that got me there. That bit made me roll my eyes. Needless to say the acting was great, and beyond my one plot annoyance the story drew me in. I think this is the first Danish movie I've seen (from the country not necessarily Danish directors). A good intro to the country.

More than interesting film, all the rating goes for the second part because I found the first part a little too long and not much of a Thriller.

The idea of doing a Western in a modern-day setting set on the marshlands of Jutland certainly appeals to me. This film, however, fails to win me over - the acting as a whole is poor - the female lead in particular, is embarassingly awful - the photography dull and the plot too complicated for its own good.

I found this film to be both uninteresting and a bit slow. The story isn't all that compelling and needed to be fleshed out more.
