Fugitive Pieces

This film moved me more then "Schindler's List" or "The Pianist", because it doesn't try to overwhelm with the scale of evil that happend during WWII, but decides to leave it solely in the viewer's context, and focuses on a drama of a single refugee boy, trying to cope with his past as and adult writer in Canada. The film doesn't try use over-dramatic acting, action or soundtrack for the effect, remaining toned down and relying on excellent screenplay.

About young Jewish boy saved from the horrors of Nazi aggression is haunted by the past. Too frequent switches between time periods make it confused and hard to follow. His first wife is incredibly lovely and they did a horrible job of explaining what went wrong except that he was a quiet wreck. Some beautiful somber music. He was finally able to shed his past and be happy. It really needs a much more cohesive time line. The acting was well done, but mostly very reserved.
