Fuku-chan of FukuFuku Flats

Does anyone do oddball characters as good as Japan? No, not really. They've got so many of them you begin to wonder if they import them from alien planets. However, eccentricity does not make a film excel. Fuku-chan has got its moments of amusent, awkwardness and even profanity but it's not a movie I'd recommend to anyone who isn't particularly a fan of Japanese comedy.

Very funny, and very sweet. Quite a treat ;)

The sheer amount of whimsy is unrelenting and the jokes often fall flat, but there's something amusing about a jolly man-baby with depression re-inventing himself as a model for an amateur photographer. Fuku-chan is somehow pathetic and infectious at the same time.
