Full Alert

A solid effort on all fronts. I read a short review saying this was the Hong Kong answer to Heat, and the comparison is apt. There's a pale sparseness in its visual design and technique, favoring long takes and unfortunate encounters, foregrounding the daily emotions of its characters. Most favorably, the elements congeal well, easily serving the story told.

Starts as a mediocre police drama, but sharps it's story towards the end. Police Inspector Pao (Ching Wan Lau) is pretty good in his part. There is nothing surprising in the story, but I liked a lot for example the car chase in Hong Kong streets. This story is about a big love between lovers and a difficulty to kill a man. It's also about a perfect bank robbery.

Surprisingly dark, and all the better for it.
