Jeff steals the dog of a teenage girl who's just been horribly disfigured in an explosion after watching her entire family murdered in front of her.

Feels like the sleaze of 80s American action exported to Hong Kong. For whatever it lacks in grace and plot, it compensates in absurdity and excessively brutal violence. Features some bitchin' proto-bullet-time trickery.

Probably the meanest I've ever seen Chow Yun-Fat. Sure, he often portrays a badass character, but here he is just ruthless. This flick also makes use of the "bullet time" gimmick before it was massively overused.

The film's kitsch factor catapults this to must-see HK action. While I wish on a personal note there was more resolution to the Jeff/Mona relationship, two bullets collide in mid-air, so I shouldn't complain too much. Cinematography in these so-called B-films is criminally underrated; and the use of its very own "bullet-time" is singular and unique.

This Ringo Lam film is like John Woo on speed. Chow Yun-Fat is the embodiment of cool and the film is filled with odd characters, brutal violence and cheesy details that all work on it's favor. It might not be as GOOD as Woo's films but it is really entertaining.

The lead star of this movie is an admirably obnoxious wailing guitar.

Another meta-movie from HK, at a time when they were operating it seems in a contemporary world of gods and monsters. Morality is a burden easily shaken off.
