Lin at least tried to balance out practical effects with CGI so the whole franchise didn't look like an xbox game. Wan goes the complete opposite direction with everything CGI including Walker. Kurt Russell looks about 80 years old now maybe they should have CGI'd him too. The L.A. drone strike by Djimon doing his best Dikembe Mutombo impression was laughably stupid. With all the military fetishism this seems more like a bad Call of Duty ripoff. The ending is so sappy it breaks the fourth wall.

I'm excited that Weta has created part of Paul Walker's final performance from old footage. This brings the world one step closer to a brand new movie starring, say, James Stewart AND J.T. Walsh. Wan has put together a reasonably competent blockbuster, doing exactly what it's supposed to. The pacing is (indeed) fast, and the action, for which the bar for believability is lowered once again (you just have to accept or ignore that - or, even better, revel in it and laugh at it), fittingly furious.

A glorious tribute to the declining standards in big-budget cinematic entertainment. The Rock flexing his arms to break his hospital cast after which he launches an ambulance into a plane and steps out in the street carrying a minigun shooting at a helicopter, admittedly, made me a little wet.

Once the last engine has been revved, The Rock has flexed out of his last cast, and Dom has picked up his last car; we realize that James Wan has successfully transformed the F&F crew into the Avengers. Remember when they were just stealing DVD players from a truck? Oh, nostalgia.

I'm sorry, but how the fuck is the movie even faring remotely well critically? I'm typically on board with throwing out my disbelief in action movies upon entering the theater, but these films have gotten progressively more ridiculous. The whole last act in LA was absolutely heinous, and the drone could have at least done us all a favor and annihilate The Rock. Honestly, I miss the days when these characters were campy outlaws, rather than moronic "heroes" absolved of their growing body count.

Paul Walker's role in the series was as a likeable, lightly-shaded hero to counterbalance Vin Diesel's heavier, more dour persona: here, this function is clearly curtailed. This tends to suggest that the series may prove to have peaked with the sixth instalment, as the warm embrace of complete fantasy and unreality, and of very simple values such as family and vengeance, becomes increasingly drowned out in a sea of murky hyper-frenetic editing, CGI, and narrative and emotional directionlessness.

Even though I liked part 6 better this is still an awesome blockbuster with ridiculous set pieces and some funny moments. The only letdown was that Statham was underused as a villain after he was masterfully introduced as the ultimate badass. The farewell to Paul Walker was surprisingly well made and moving.

Terrible script that keeps bluntly telling us how close these people are, also with cheesy dialogue. Over the top and stupid action. Shots of Vin Diesel's face and the city, glitz and glamour. A plot that doesn't matter. Oh yeah, also really enjoyable. It's just junk food, and the silly action is a lot of fun. It rides that line of being a little TOO much at times, but for the most part it is actually a thrill ride despite being a pretty bad movie in a lot of ways. Nice tribute at the end too.

There's something magical about a film that can make me laugh the hardest I have at any movie (The Rock flexing so hard it blows his cast off) to getting teary-eyed at the end. No other franchise seems to realize that the key to blockbuster entertainment is treating your characters with respect and your action sequences like a playground. I saw five trailers before this started where a city blows up, and Furious 7 will be better than all of them put together. This franchise is saving Hollywood.

Pretty bad. The dialogue is never good in these movies but it hits a new low in this one. Everything said is either exposition or sentimental bullshit, and lines get repeated by different characters to an absurd degree. The action has been better in past FF movies as this relies too heavily on CGI and devolves into the now overused city destruction porn. I hope they keep their promise and this was "One Last Ride."

They really did just get even more ridiculous, didn't they? This one certainly is, but the action and stunts are still really well done, even though the deep-fake looks sketchy at times. I think this one had the best writing and pacing. It certainly didn't feel as long as it is. I also liked the little bit of emotion put into it. Maybe James Wan should direct more of these. It won't convert you into a Fast and Furious fan, but it probably is the best one. I'd certainly recommend it.

Extra points for basically being 4 action packed movies in one. All of the action was so far over the top as to not be believable in the slightest, but it was an edge of your seat experience in thrill rides and back to back action scenes. It would be easy to pick at the details, but if you can just go with it, it's worth all the nonsense to be shocked and amazed so many times. Fun entertainment, with far too many guns and explosions, but sort of in a good way.

Furious 7 somehow pushes the F&F franchise to new levels of absurdity. But with a great deal of disbelief there's no doubting that this seventh installment surpasses the thrills and escapism of it's predecessors. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker & co are the usual amount of fun. Whilst the addition of Jason Statham is a fun substitute for briefer involvement from Dwayne Johnson. There's fun to be had but overall this just falls short of films 5&6. Paul Walker's final farewell though is handled perfectly.

This is a spectacular action film. The stunts are unreal. Dwayne Johnson drops the Rock Bottom on a guy and puts him through a table; blows his cast off by flexing his arm; takes out an aircraft by driving an ambulance off a building, picks up its minigun and when asked where the cavalry is, replies 'Woman, I am the cavalry.' Fast cars, hot girls, broken glass, explosions, jumping vehicles between skyscrapers, vehicular skydiving with parachutes and highway landings. Film of the year so far.

Still reaches the solid escapism the franchise has acheived since Fast Five; I give most of the credit to The Rock. The dialog is pretty god-awful, but Furious 7 has come a little bit closer to the action movie nirvana of non-stop fight/stunt sequences. It's regrettably more difficult to suspend my disbelief that everyone survives this ridiculous shit given what happened to Paul Walker.

I don't find this to be any better than the 5th or 6th installment, regardless what people might say, but I did however, get a high octane action flick with action sequences as crazy as they come. A fine farewell to Walker and because of so many different (maybe too many..?) characters, you don't stumble upon the fact that he doesn't get that much airtime. I was pleased with what's hopefully the final chapter. *Good

A fun action movie, fantastic send off the Paul Walker and an impressive action movie debut from the horror veteran James Wan; makes this movie a fun blockbuster. Of course to get to the fun you have to power through the first half hour, which is slow and disjointed (half because Paul Walker didn't film these scenes yet, and the other half because Michelle Rodriguez is a horrible actress.)

More of the same fun action that you want from this franchise, with the stunts reaching new ridiculous heights. Some great new additions to the group, Kurt Russel kicking ass and having some nice banter with Diesel. They could not have ended the film in a better way by giving Paul Walker a perfect farewell. If you have been with this franchise from the beginning it will get you right in the feels at the end.

Wan should stick to what hes good at. Though this was nowhere near the shitshow I thought it would be, Furious 7 is ridiculous, cliched, and a bit dumb compared to 5. The redeeming factors are the kind of cool plot, and the Paul Walker send off, which were both quite amazing. Was good for what it was; a time waster.

Realism, just like everything else in Furious 7, goes out the window; and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I'm not crying. You're crying! I just got some exhaust and dirt in my eyes after Paul Walker drove-off into the sunset. After 7 films in "The Fast and the Furious" series, the cast of characters does begin to feel like a real family. So the tragic real-life events of Paul Walker's death, plus just the revenge plot tone put a bit of a damper on the usual campy action-schlock. However the additions of Kurt Russell and Jason Statham do help super-charge the action fun. 10 cans of Axe Body SprayTM

The action sequences were ridiculously unrealistic, which is exactly what I was hoping for. This was just a fun, crazy movie, and possibly my favorite of the series so far. It's not good, not really, but it is entertaining. The action is shot a bit too close and jerky for my liking, but not head-ache-ingly so. And the set-ups are beyond parody, almost Dr Seuss-esque. We did a stunt upon a boat, on a train, on a tank and then a plane. Worth a rental, unless you need the explosions and the Rock's muscles to be BIG.

Film couldn't decide if it was trying to be an Expendables rip-off or a tribute to Paul Walker. The plot was all over the place, nothing really made sense, just a string of excuses to show us some action scenes and chicks in bikinis. Which I wouldn't normally mind, but throughout the film we were constantly reminded that Paul Walker was dead. Shits given: 0.

It's dumb as fuck and the cars are the real characters. I really don't know why modern action directors just don't hold the godamn camera still, either. Having to speed up Statham's action scenes is lame, too. Beside that, there's actual diversity in the cast, and the mountain top chase and crashes were actually the best part.

Entertaining to watch as long as you're not taking much of this seriously which you shouldn't if you've seen any of the previous Fast and Furious films. The dialog is ridiculous, beyond ridiculous. I haven't got a clue how they're going to make a new fast and furious that can compete with this one on the action level. Where the sixth was great and packed with action, this one is just packed with action. If you'd skip all the explosions, shooting and fighting, you'd have about 15 minute of film. I liked the sixth because it was balanced. This one isn't even near "balanced". Don't expect more than just action. You won't find it.

Marter's right -- this is DEFINITELY the best of this franchise. But not necessarily for the reasons you might think. This is not a GOOD movie... it's an entertaining movie, and it's super-entertaining, even for folks like me that aren't into two-hour-long car commercials. For a good long while, it's maybe in 80 territory -- but once The Rock flexes his way out of a cast with a BROKEN ARM, it gets as ridiculous and stupid as any of its predecessors. But it doesn't torpedo an entertaining flick.

It's safe to say that I'm glad this series has eventually made such a turn-around, from being solely about car-chases driven by rev-head douches, to more CGI-heavy action sequences (that may or may not involve vehicles) featuring lovable beef-head family-men -- sorry, Paul. Despite being the emotional centre of the film at no level at all, he still gets his tribute coda, which seemed pretty inevitable and shows more class on the production's part than emotional consistency.

This is the third-best FatF film, but I feel the series is going in the wrong direction. It's a fool's errand to try to keep outdoing the set pieces of 5 and 6--it'd be wiser to instead focus on why those two films work, lest this series wind up in Looney Tunes territory.

It suffers from the need of commitment to the material -- and, here, the plot is mindless as ever, and the tribute, as expected, tones down the jokes from Tyrese and Ludacris. Wan is used to do his tricks in his low-budget horror features, so he really gets away with a lot of absurd, unpredictable things when money is on the table. The wide angles resemble Gareth Edwards, some shots are really suspenseful and adventurous, full with ironic twists.

Above average FF film, benefitting from a pared-down crew of heroes and a strong trio of baddies in Statham, Jaa and Hounsou. The intricacies of the plot and character relationships are lost among the noise, which doesn't really matter because this series is ever more about its incredible stunts (rivalling or ripping-off Mission Impossible) and explosions. The crash survival rate is insane but there are 2 or 3 moments that are the biggest "no way!" jawdroppers of the summer. As it should be.

A beyond ridiculous epic, of deeds so grandiose and larger than life that you can't help but enjoy. There's a constant feel of patchwork editing, due in part to Walker's unfortunate demise, but the accomplished work shows the care and love for the late actor in a very touching eulogy.
Alongside one of the most positive racial ideals in an action blockbuster franchise, the F&F movies were characteristic for its characters as a whole, with so many gone now, I'd rather see an end to it.

I blame Michael Bay for the script, he set the bar so low, established franchises realised they could get away with scripts eligible for handicapped parking.

Furious Seven is far-and-away the best Fast and Furious movie. It has the best action, the most menacing villain, an incredibly touching conclusion, and despite running for over two hours, doesn't feel long at all. There are incredibly lengthy sequences that could have been severely mishandled, but thanks to director James Wan, they're all easy to follow and incredibly entertaining. We've finally got a Fast and Furious film that is, without a doubt, a very good movie. [Full Review]

Now *this* is what I wanted all along from this franchise - big, loud, dumb, balls-to-the-wall but executed with such rapid fire intensity by Wan (and his collaborators) that you just hold on and go with it. Incredible action set pieces overshadow the now expected (but still pretty hokey) soap opera of our heroes' lives, but so entertaining at its peak (Gibson's fruitless pumping of brakes, and Johnson's hospital escape) that it seems snarky to carp.

From the schmalzy "family" scenes with swelling strings and tinkling pianos, to the numbing explosions and bullets and collapsing buildings to the many, repeated failed attempts at humour by Tyrese. There was one...ONE fun moment in the whole movie, the bus/cliff/car bit. So absurd that I chuckled for a good long while. But I'd never, ever, ever, ever watch this again. Also, Muay Thai legend Tony Jaa is wasted in boring, bland, Bourne Identity-esque shaky cam close-up fighting.

The sexist content bothered me, too. I also hate Tyrese Gibson as the comic relief - he's painful and not funny in the slightest. They did do a pretty good with Walker. Overall, I didn't think it was much beyond a typical action flick, and I wish it was the last one in the series, but it just made too much money.

I don't understand how this movie is critically acclaimed and gets a pass for being "fun" but yet Michael Bay films like Transformers are universally panned as "ridiculous" when they're both just as equally ridiculous.

Flying cars, busses hanging on a cliff and some clichè love - I'm all in. It's action packed to the end and I I'm still onboard. RIP Mr Walker. Excited to see if I'm going to enjoy the following without him. *Good

I enjoyed this (though it desperately wants to be Mission Impossible). Some parts of the film (like the female bodyguards in Abu Dhabi, the skydiving cars, or The Rock carrying around the chain gun) are awesomely campy, but the humor fell flat often (like anything Tyrese said). Statham was okay (didn't like him as much as Evans as a villain), but the real fun addition was Kurt Russell, who steals many the scenes he's in. The ending with Paul Walker was melancholy and respectful. Worth a watch.

I'm a little furious that I actually like this movie. I normally like to trash these movies, because I'm not much of a gear-head. If a car can get me from point A to point B. I'm totally fine. I guess what really impressed me in this movie was the amazing chase sequences. The one on the mountain pass was especially thrilling. The dialogue still haunts these movies, it's just pretty bad. Also, the film's length really hurts it. In fact, I would say this movie has three movies inside it... [Full Review]

Wow what a train wreck this thing is. James Wan should stick to horror. It's pretty much a superhero film at this point as not of the action is even remotely realistic. The story is a mess and is little more than thinly connected badly edited CGI infused shaky cam action set pieces.

Furious Seven (2015) delivers the kick-ass action it promised! But of course there isn't any other emotional release except for thumbs-up for the Paul Walker tribute at the end. No complaints about the testosterone level, but I might have cheered for the wrong guy whenever Jason Statham was kicking old Vin's ass!

Furious 7 continues to evolve the franchise characters into super heroes on par with (if not greater than) anything Marvel/Disney has to offer. While not as crazy-cuckoo fun as previous entries, the creativity is there in a fitting exit for Paul Walker. His final film provides maybe the best action sequence of the series & certainly his best fight scene. The theme of adopted families becoming real provides an appropriately cathartic ending/tribute that rivals what The Crow did for Brandon Lee.

I'll admit I give a shit ton of brownie points for Walker's end. The addition of Russell was solid, and the movie continues it’s more slap stick humor that 6 had, and almost doubles down on a lot of it. I still stand by the fact I'm nostalgic of the first 5, I miss it being just about cars and brotherhood, that kinda feel more rooted in reality and more relatable instead of people driving cars out of skyscrapers. Regardless, I’m still a very happy fan of this franchise.

Such a lump-in-the-throat send-off may not move you to think of prestigious acting awards, but it does, perhaps inadvertently, push beyond the typical F&F fantasy. For Walker's demise emphasizes that in the real world a cavalier attitude about racing too fast and drifting too furiously generally ends in grief. And no amount of stardom or big box-office horsepower can completely swerve around that. (pluggedin.com)

Mindless action movie, with cars, fighting and explosions. The plot is ridicules, the acting is grunts, cracks and punches. It's easy to follow and things go boom, a action flick that doesn't aspire to be more.

Entertaining and viusally compelling. But the whole story is based on an unnecessary Kurt Russell-driven subplot and tries to connect exotic locations to show over-the-top action. However, the ending is very touching with a wonderful tribute to Paul Walker.

This film was deliciously guilty of so much bad writing and unnecessary plot gimmicks; I loved every one of The Rock's perfect deliveries of some of the corniest lines ever. Seriously, just fun.

It took seven movies and fourteen years for them to get it right, but goddammit they did it. Don't think I've seen a movie so wonderfully dumb since I watched Blade last year. You know how they say "turn your brain off and you'll enjoy it?" The great thing about Furious 7 is there's no time at all for one's brain to be turned on. There's no time for rest where I'm reminded the dialog and acting suck, nah. It's just one dumb action scene after another, and they're all so fun

Other than the beautiful Paul Walker tribute at the end, I really didn't care for Furious 7. I almost consider this a superhero movie because Vin Diesel seems to constantly overcome the odds at impossible rates. How many times can he barrel roll his car 50 times until only the frame is left, kick the door out and walk away without a scratch? I like action movies but it REALLY pushed the envelope with the absurd. Franchise fans will enjoy. 2.5 STARS

In the memory of Paul Walker this is best movie in whole sequel of Fast & Furious. End is memorable where Paul is on beach with his complete family. Furious 7 is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride that's a double-barrelled blast of excitement, loaded with a whole handful of audacious sequences that challenge any previous attempt to blow audience's minds. As if shooting a plane down wasn't good enough for Dom's crew, now they're parachuting out of cargo bays, still seated in their many f

Furious 7 is an excellent film and sets standards very high for Fast 8. The cast are as likeable as ever and the stunts are bigger and better than ever before. The soundtrack is really fitting and the film digs into territories that the franchise hasn't ever visited before (Character development, emotional moments) thanks to Wan's new direction choices. Full of cheesy dialogue and over the top action, Furious 7 defines why the world likes this franchise so much - it is spectacular!

From the masterful opening shot, the totally bonkers climax and heartfelt ending. Furious 7 is a sign that not only is this franchise getting better with every entry. The themes of family become all the more true when it becomes clear through art how close the cast and crew truly are. It speaks volumes and the genre-hopping James Wan clearly has proven a director to reckon with.
