Future Shock wants to be a warning towards man that society's downfall shall be due to the "death of permanence", but its reasoning is so shoddy, its conclusions so illogical, that it comes across as some kid's amateurish 1973 high school report on "the future" (Odd Culture)

Hysterical by both meanings of the word. Toffler and co. are afraid of organ transplants, and afraid that we'll all start genetically dying ourselves blue. Welles' ponderous for-hire narration includes a bit about the "death of permanence" which runs totally contrary to his magnificent Chartres speech in F for Fake.

Entertaining 1970s cheese. As usual with these kinds of things, most everyone they talk to sounds pretty upbeat about everything...and then the writer (and narrator) make it all sound unrelentingly grim and sinister. :) At any rate, a nicely stylish production in places, with sequences that effectively echo the overall mood. It's odd btw that they didn't (or couldn't) find any people who'd been turned into basket cases by all of this accelerated change to interview...
