Sankarankutty (Premkumar), although coming from a long line of mahouts, considered it below his dignity to be one & leaves home when asked to go as a mahout to the Mullackal family. He meets debt-ridden Ananthapadmanaban aka Ananthu (Jagadish), whom he saves from suicide. Learning about the job, Ananthu shows up at Mullackal & takes the job, claiming to be Sankarankutty. When Sankarankutty finally shows up after a change of mind, he sees Ananthu as the mahout & vows to smoke him out of there. (Summary by iceblox)
