Barbara Stanwyck was really captivating in this otherwise standard drama. I really didn't like the ending that whole part felt tacked on and didn't fit in with the rest of the film.

A quite entertaining bit of fluff, with Stanwyck in her tough-but-vulnerable mode (one of her best). Try not to think about how things are worked out TOO much, because all of it doesn't quite make sense. But do enjoy the excellent acting from all concerned. Stanwyck has a worthy sparring partner in Claire Dodd--their scenes together are the best in the picture, and the fur flies in most entertaining fashion. And C. Aubrey Smith is especially sympathetic as her father-in-law. Worth seeing.

Better than expected as there are simple yet captivating twists that make such a short feature interesting to watch.

A delightful little Barbara Stanwyck film, even if I wish some of the pay-offs relating to her stunning rival Claire Dodd would have been more rewarding. But Joel McCrea was as handsome as can be and C. Aubrey Smith playing his father brought some of the most heartwarming moments in the film. Where McCrea brings her home to meet dad was probable the scene I'll remember best.
