Gammera the Invincible

Unlike Godzilla or 20 Million Miles to Earth, the monster is not good enough to overcome the rest of the productions incredible shortcomings. Sure, Gamera looks cool (who doesn't like flying turtles?), but he doesn't do much of anything.

Sadly, not as colorfully over-the-top as the sequels. It's structurally strange, as it sets up a bunch of human subplots early on, then gets caught up in the battle against Gamera and has to resolve them in the last thirty seconds.

Ahhhh, we LOVE Gamera in our house. A giant turtle that flies by spinning and has jets fire flames out of it's arse. what's not to love???

Takes forever for nothing to happen.

Even if this is the crappy American re-done version, it's still freakin' Gamera, and thankfully they left his scenes (for the most part) untouched. Say what you will about the original Japanese version, but at least it's better than this!
