Hagen is one of my favorites now, but this is a miscalculation. Too dark for a kids adventure, too cheesy for adults, it suggests Scandinavian myth and offers up Anaconda.

Not a bad family film, darker than most Hollywood films of this kind. It's a fun film that doesn't require a lot of brain power, just sit back and enjoy the thrills.

A bit of adventurous fun aimed at older children and teenagers. I enjoyed it because I like Viking stuff, stunning forest landscapes and stunning Nicolai Cleve Broch. EF 30, IF 20.

Great potential, interesting subject. But poor dialogue and disappointing plot twists made this a typical norwegian rather than a classical one.

Historian dad takes 2 children to last-career-chance expedition to northern Norway ... just to run into some silly looking big snake.

I wish I could overlook the stuff that doesn't make any sense at all - and there's lots of it - because otherwise this is a perfectly fine adventure film (though a bit lacking in style and a bit dim in narrative). Hagen and Berglyd are highlights in the cast. It achieves quite a lot for its budget, and the fact that they probably couldn't afford many more frames of heavy CGI works in its favor.

It's like a much weaker early Spielberg adventure film, with an incredibly light connection to norse mythology. The family aspect is enjoyable, but it isn't anything incredibly special outside the unique subject matter, and the plot lurches from thrill to thrill like a poorly oiled roller coaster.

Sooo many clichés.
