Gekijouban Trigun: Badlands Rumble

2010
Comedy

Trigun takes place in the distant future on a deserted planet. Vash the Stampede is a gunfighter with a legend so ruthless that he has a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Entire towns are evacuated upon hearing rumors of his arrival. However, the real Vash the Stampede is not the same man that rumor portrays him to be. The enigmatic and conflicted lead character in Trigun is actually more heroic in nature, and at at times a complete and utter idiot. (Myanimelist)

It's basically the same thing as the Trigun series. The script wasn't anything special and it's filled with the usual anime clichés. Somewhat disappointed in this 'cause my PSI for this was75 :(

It's a jolly reminisence of my first anime watching days. It gets placed in the middle of the series (like Bebop the movie) and behaves like a very long episode. Nothing is different from the series design and spiritwise. Detail of animation, especially in the crowded scenes is admirable, few 3D cgi blends in nicely.

The animation is great, but it suffers a lot of the same problems most anime movies based on series have. It feels AU and doesn't offer much that you can't find in a random episode of the show. Still a fun ride, though.

A bit muddled thematically, but a fun return for one of the greatest shows in the anime genre. The characters feel right, the new additions to the cast are genuinely interesting, and the animation is gorgeous. Basically, it's Trigun, so if you liked the show you'll love this. Also, what the hell is with the guy in the bar scene who drinks through a straw that comes out of a metal plate on his face. Seriously, I want to watch a movie about him...

The failure to establish the setting was maddening. I couldn't tell if this was set before, during or after the series. Was it adapted from the comic? A stand alone entity? After half the flick you'll have it figured out, but the new characters are DULL, the plot is NONEXISTENT and the animation quality was on par with a highly produced episode. What a letdown. Kudos on the voice acting, at least.

I must say that I loved the anime, so I was a total sucker for this movie. Trigun: Badlands Rumble brings back one of the greatest shows of the genre with better animation, the characters we all know and love (Wolfblood being my favorite) along with some new ones, and a good story for what it is. Definitely worth the watch if you liked the t.v. show.
