The first short of the Pixar series, these shorts have become nearly as much a treat as the films themselves, and it's a tradition that seems to tie these films back to the days of yore, when films had a stronger mystique than they seem to now. This one is fantastic, and set the standard.

It's Pixar, and one of their magnificent shorts, so you know the quality is going to be right up there. The way that Pixar doesn't need dialog to make you enjoy and care about the characters. This one shows an old man (men?) at the park, and even this simple scenario can bring about a fantastical short.

Checkmate! This funny short about an old man playing chess against himself is pretty good. It doesn't have much of a story, so that hurts it's score a little... but I found this pretty entertaining nonetheless. I think it's funny how he had one personality that was confused with the glasses and the other was a total cocky Bobby Fischer type...

A lot of these early Pixar shorts feel more like exercises in animating particular things than anything else. This feels like it focuses on animating humans in more detail that you see in "Toy Story".
