It's funny, because the film's title can mean two things! If you're looking for an examination of America's current racial tensions (and the high incarceration rate of black males) or the continual issue of white-collar crime, well, brother, you're going to have a bad time around the 27th prison rape joke.

Another insulting low brow comedy where Will Ferrell graces the screen with the same character we've seen over and over again. I'm not sure if the target audience is six year old's whose parents neglect them enough that they can't stop them from seeing R-rated movies, or adults who drool and forget to wipe their butts, but either way I'm not entertained.

Grossly unfunny; repetitive jokes about dicks and prison rape aim for the uncomfortable extremes but they can't make up for their severe lack of cleverness, creativity, and comedic timing. Racial and social class stereotypes abound in a script that on occasion seems to be trying to make some sort of serious statement, but mostly just comes off as stupid and tasteless. A childish plot (the detective-work final act is very weak) and made-for-TV quality camerawork solidify this as an awful film.

This is a dumb bullshit movie that isn't even close to being funny. We don't need that many dick and gay jokes. Will Ferrell has never been funny and is even less tolerable now.

We've sure come a long way in what passes as comedy on screen, from Buster Keaton avoiding a falling side of a house to actually showing a man about to suck a penis in slow motion, (in the unrated version) Kevin Hart is slowly becoming the new Eddie Murphy (funny guy....not so funny films)

Rather than being wholly offensive, "Get Hard" is instead purely tasteless--that is, so unfilled with any witty gags or clever racial commentary that it leaves no form of an impression.

Get Hard is a clichéd story that has a few funny moments. I enjoyed parts of this movie but it isn't something that I'd watch again. Kevin Hart plays himself - a small black, funny man who isn't a stereotype. Will Ferrell plays a rich white guy who gets duped by his boss but he's too stupid to realize it. Other people appear but most of the movie is just the two guys.

While I chuckled a few times throughout Get Hard, it was mostly for the chemistry between Hart and Ferrell which stands out as the high point for the movie. It's a pretty unique premise yet it's not done with any uniqueness no matter how many new racist or dick jokes are in here. I wasn't expecting much and got what I was expecting, so not too disappointed here.

Viewed April 17, 2015. I'm generally an apologist for the modern comedy, but I guess it was a little bit ludicrous to expect more than a lot of prison rape jokes out of this monstrosity. I'll admit I chuckled throughout, but the whole thing was generally a painful experience. It's kind of a horrible feeling to sit down in a theater, watch 5 minutes of a movie and already wildly anticipate its ending.

Hart and Ferrell have decent chemistry, and I chuckled a bunch of times (mostly at Hart who makes the most out of his time), but this operates on one or two notes for an hour and a half. Penis jokes abound, and very little else, with too much emphasis put on raunch and throwing swear words at the wall to see what sticks. The premise could have worked but it's a wasted opportunity. They can't be forgiven for their misuse of The Bomb by Pigeon John, which is a wonderful and upbeat song.

I can get behind Kevin Hart in this. He's got some really funny moments. Will Ferrell does what he usually does, to continuingly-diminishing returns. Comedy movies often try too hard to be "more than just a comedy", and this has elements of that for sure. I don't think it helps the movie's case. This is not OFFENSIVELY bad. But it's a lot of lazy comedy with shoe-horned drama and extraneous story that simply isn't necessary. A mostly-pointless comedy becomes a completely-pointless dramedy.

This was very poor. Even for the standards of both Ferrell and Hart. I definitely expected better comedy from these two. I mean they are definitely the types of comedians that attracts a specific group, they have their fans, but this was really uninspired and unimaginative. *Bad

Hart was watchable, but the film lacks originality, tension and, worst of all, humour. Solely comprising of dick jokes, stereotypes and stupidity; Get Hard is offensive to those who genuinely enjoy the comedy genre.

Will I be run out of Criticker at gunpoint if I say that I didn't think it was the worst thing ever created by man? I mean, PARTS of it were perhaps the worst thing ever created by man. I'll leave the many negative reviews to expound on those parts. But I'll admit a few of the filthy jokes got some juvenile chuckles from my inner 12-year-old, and I liked the madcap action-comedy energy of the final act.

A film that really did not make me laugh out loud at all. It just had moments where you smiled and thought 'Meh that was a good attempt' but it never really went above and beyond that. Really not much to say about this one. This is what we have come to expect from the once great Will Farrell. Oh well, comedy is more subjected to critcism than most films.

an extremely offensive film - there are many races and types of people that will be offended by this movie. Hart and Ferrell have the potential to be very likeable and good but they aren't put to use due to terrible screenwriting. The music choices are suitable & the concept is good but the film isn't executed very well which is due to Cohen's poor direction. If you are at a movie theatre and you have the choice to 'Get Hard' or Go Home...GO HOME - do not waste your money on this garbage.

Get Hard isn't a good movie, and it serves as another reminder of how rare good wide-release comedies are. It's far too focused on certain aspects that just don't remain funny when mined as often as they are here. Whether you ultimately like it or not will depend on how big of a fan you are of Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, both of whom are fine, but you should really expect more out of them. Prison rape jokes and erection euphemisms aren't the comedic heights we should be striving to attain.

Now hear me out, there is a significant thematic link between 'The Exterminating Angel' and this Farrelly-Hart 'bromedy'; imprisonment in the home as a plot device to reveal the thin veneer of civility. Admittedly, the latter film has much less paper eating and much more kiestering.

Ferrell and associates' masterclass on long, visually dull scenes with seemingly improvised lines strung together. His stream of trashtalk lines to use in prison was his worst, er, best yet. Explains why there were no outtakes during the credits. And as has become all too typical, the supporting cast was severely limited in the quantity and quality of lines. Yes, Ferrell and Hart have good chemistry, but I'm sure they can riff with other actors too.

I got some hardy laughs from this movie. Yes, Will Ferrell isn't the man he used to be, but working alongside Kevin Hart really helped him out. The best way I can describe this film, is that it is like the Karate Kid. Ferrell is going to be sent to prison, so he has to Get Hard so that he can make it through the ordeal in one piece. He learns how to curse, how to fight and how not to escape prison...

"I'm gonna punch you in the fuck!" "Hit it, Fudge!" Little to say here other than that I laughed, a lot, at Ferrell in clueless doofus mode and perpetually aggravated Hart. So, that's it. I laughed a lot. Also this is timelier and much better made than it probably has any right to be.

Funniest film I've seen in a while. Will Ferrell is so-so but it's really Kevin Hart who makes this film, as well as the hilarious minor characters. There's some sloppy directing with obvious continuity errors but it doesn't matter in a film this silly and crass.

I'll agree with Ferrell that this movie is, indeed, offensive. It's also ugly and distasteful and flat-out dumb, wasting the talents of its two leading men in the service of a crass, sophomoric waste that's wholly too reliant on one-note prison-rape jokes (both verbal and visual) to "articulate" any sort of true provocation. Despite most jokes falling flat, there were many chuckles and a few good laughs. Though not a big fan of Will Ferrel and Kevin Hart, their pairing worked. A mostly tedious script jammed with stupid, offensive and insensitive humor, but provides a few funny moments. Alison Brie was enjoyable as the beautiful spoiled hottie. It is pretty much defined by deadpan, dry humor. Farrel displays his distinctive overacting awkward dumb-ass style at every opportunity.

there is not actually any story in this film, it's just 90 minutes of relentless cock/dick/rape jokes between hart and ferrel. they go to many hilarious places and make more of these same jokes in a variety of manners. for some of us, this is amusement. for others, this is debasement and torture. i laughed the entire way through because i'm a monster. i really could have used more story though.

Maybe it's those distressing memories of Unfinished Business still echoing around my frontal lobe, but I found this a substantially more entertaining movie than just about everyone else who's seen it. It gets off to a slow, setup-heavy start, but there's an hour or so in the middle of the film where I seemed to giggle every minute or two, which is a pretty good track record. I dunno. Maybe I was high on life the day I saw it, but I think Ferrell and Hart fans could do a lot worse.
