A somehow even more annoying Putney Swope. How did De Palma make a movie so boring

A curious failure. Still, any film featuring a scene with Tommy Smothers in the sack with Orson Welles can't be that bad. Can it?

It's a strange film where the weird stuff and the funny stuff rarely intersect, and I honestly enjoyed the weird stuff more. Bizarre tale of discovering oneself and how capitalism will attempt to destroy anything, no matter how silly it is. Smothers and John Astin give cute performances, and the obviously slumming it Orson Welles is a hoot too. Seeing some of De Palma's directorial quirks-- split screen, overhead, etc-- applied to a comedy is amazing as well.

O Homem de Duas Vidas estreava há 50 anos em Los Angeles. Eu gosto das comédias do De Palma, mas depois de um tempo essa fica bem cansativa, aparentemente Tom Smothers tem uma carreira sólida como comediante, mas eu preferiria alguém com o carisma do Robert De Niro para segurar as pontas, como nos filmes anteriores do diretor.
