Of all the movies about The Power Of Working Together, this is the only one featuring the main character falling on a power line crotch-first. The frozen expressions on the goofy suits lead to some hilarious reaction shots, especially from Rodan. And all in all, this one was pretty damn entertaining! The human parts were amusingly odd (I can't not laugh at those fairy twins) and Ghidorah will most likely become my favorite monstermoviemonster.

Fantastic! The completely over-the-top third act is what puts this film up in tier 8; Mothra still in caterpillar form trying to persuade Godzilla and Rodan (who are in the midst of a comic battle) to join up and fight Ghidorah together. It's all quite brilliant, plot holes aside. Ghidorah really wreaks havoc upon Japan before the final battle!

Feels like it was influenced by James Bond. Goofy and fun. Mothra's song is like a Bjork video.

I enjoy goofy kaiju films but this has to be over the top. Not sure what the whole Venus princess thing was about. Gidorah was awesome laying waste to Japan with three heads shooting lightning. The fight animation is a step down from usual---the monsters spend most of their time having seizures with each other. Fav scene: the whole sequence of Godzilla and Rodan playing catch with rocks, then caterpillar Mothra brokering peace with a translator giving strong exposition to the audience.

One of the best of the 60s Godzilla films- an elaborate and colorful fantasy that, for all its silliness, is never less than entertaining.

To its credit, this movie has the best human story in the Godzilla franchise next to Gojira. The monster fights are silly, but the adventures of the roaming assassin gang and the geographic researchers are worth watching.

This film is fucking amazing. Ghidorah is a big golden metaphor for China, and 'American nuclear threat' Godzilla and 'Soviet symbolism' Rodan have to join forces with 'Obviously Japan' Mothra to kick it out. North and South Venus (Korea, natch) are somehow involved. This is the film where Godzilla finally accepts Jesus (you think I'm kidding) and becomes a good guy

Godzilla's primary method of fighting is to chuck rocks and I love it.

Absolute delight. If you're into the really colorful and cheesy kind of giant monsters, this is the ur-example, the point where Godzilla turns into a superhero. And it's packed full of fantastic weirdness, including psychic beings from the planet Venus being chased by assassins from a made-up Middle Eastern nation.

Silly monster fights. At this point the serious tone of the original is gone, and Godzilla spends a movie not being a villain for the first time. And it's a cartoonish blast, and I actually kind of like the venusian storyline and how all the monsters come together like it's the avengers.

Goofy. All the thematic undercurrents that made the earlier kaiju movies powerful is gone, and we are left with Martian princesses and Godzilla throwing rocks at a dragon.

In this good follow-up to _Godzilla vs. Mothra_, the mighty lizard is presented as a hero -- albeit a reluctant one -- for the first time. Solid effects work and a surprisingly complex plot make this one of the best of the Toho monster epics.

The human story is kind of interesting, despite the fact that it seems to belong to a different movie. The filmmakers did a poor job cohering the human story with the monster story, and the result is a lot of events with little to no explanation. Why did Rodan and Godzilla emerge? Why are the assassins after the princess? Good questions. The monster battles are entertaining, venturing into the silliness that the Showa era would come to be known for. Ghidorah is pretty badass, though.

Not as radical of a departure from the formula as I expected from the first one where Godzilla isn't the villain. The rock-throwing fight and the "conversation" between the monsters had me dying though. Funniest stuff in the franchise so far.

This movie has a pretty good story set up, and its historic as the first appearance of Ghidorah, but the story drags at spots, and the monster fighting scenes are sub par.

This movie is a ton of fun. I really enjoyed both the human stories and the monster battle royale. Both subplots work well to keep the story moving forward, and it never felt stale. This seems to be a jumping off point for the series, introducing telepathic aliens, 4 monsters on screen, and Godzilla being a heroic figure. My favorite parts of these movies has always been insanity so this one was right up my alley.

By far the best in the series (so far) apart from the original. The costumes, miniatures and sfxs never looked better. Honda's direction is at its best too in the series. Even the side-story was watchable, because it is the kind of silly fun sci-fi-adventure plot that fits a movie featuring fighting monsters. But most importantly the fight between Rodan and God is entertaining, and the final fight against Ghidorah is just great fun. Also funny is Mothra trying to convince Godzilla and Rodan

For being a larvae, Mothra is still the king (queen?) of the monsters by squirting silly string and holding onto various tails. There's a great scene where Rodan and Gozilla play a little keepy-uppy. And there's a beautiful Venusian princess. Kooky fun.

the plot is quintessential 60s sci-fi, so you'll love it or hate it depending on where your tastes lie. film moves right along at a good pace. the monster battle was awesome except for the kind of pathetic conclusion.

Amusing but rather dull until the monster battles arrive, but the battles are very enjoyable, particularly the 3-on-1 centerpiece.

These movies are so silly in a way that works for me even when it shouldn't. I do miss the thematic heft that was the original but guys in rubber costumes destroying cardboard cities is very fun indeed.

Ghidorah's first appearance is a change of pace for the Godzilla films. In that it comes time to take things a little more seriously. That being said, it still can be a little boring when the human characters take the stage.

My score is based on the Japanese cut, but I hear that the American cut is actually more entertaining.
