A documentary that's more of a fan letter than a true investigation of the subject. It's shallow and relies solely upon the interviews of people who were in the band or who at one time or another met Jeffrey Lee Pierce superficially. Maybe this is as good as it gets because the members of the band were doing enough drugs that they might not even remember details. It's clear that a fan who is also a filmmaker decided to make a documentary just because there hadn't been one on Pierce yet.

Informative & entertaining enough. Doesn't mythologise the subject which is very nice but lacks true insight. Doesn't really even attempt to get into Pierce's tortured creative psyche, portraying him as he appeared to his close associates, a destructive narcissistic asshole. Not really in-depth, analytical or visionary but worth a watch if you're into Gun Club. Unfortunate that it doesn't actually have any of their music in it serving as a poor introduction to the band.
