Honestly, not as bad as I expected it to be. Sections of the film work very well, others don't. The same applies to the humor. An all-Prince soundtrack is a very nice touch.

Movie not very good but the all Prince soundtrack was great for this Prince fan!

A troubling and disturbing film which raises some excellent points that unfortunately become muddled in side plots that go nowhere. Supporting characters are criminally underdeveloped which makes their use in the climax and denouement of the film jarring and leaves the ending feeling abrupt. Lee uses a lot of excellent camerawork but also a lot of interstitial scenes which add nothing and screw up the pacing. Spends too much time engaging in voyeurism while condemning it at the same time.

Very strange film, some parts very strong some parts less so. The relationship with the ex-boyfriend doesn't seem well fleshed-out at all, but the scenes at the call center are really excellent. Spike Lee's use of the camera is really nice, as usual. And as I've come to expect from Lee, he tells a story that I haven't heard before, with characters I haven't seen before. Not bad.
