Sweet film with a clever chase scene at the climax.

I'm starting to warm up to Lloyd shtick and this both quite funny and charmingly cute. The long race against time sequence near the end feels like a different film but it's entertaining too.

Funny Lloyd picture where he plays a bachelor dreaming of being a ladies man. In an attempt to improve his lot in life, he writes an instructional book on how to be appealing to women even though he has no idea himself! When his book eventually finds its way into the hand's of a top publisher, that's when the real fun begins. Girl Shy takes a while to get moving, but Harold's affability goes a long way, and the final extended chase scene is spectacularly well executed.

A fun hour or so of romantic comedy, followed by 20 minutes of crazy chase scenes where Lloyd commandeers anything and everything he can get his hands on in a wild ride around the streets of Culver City.

The first hour is pretty mundane -- a romantic comedy that's far too light on the comedy. But the end is dynamite: a madcap race to the church to stop a wedding and steal the bride. Most of the race is undercranked, which only adds to the insanity. It's interesting how many of these old rom-coms showcase the notion that you have to achieve some level of career success before you can marry the girl. It's an old-fashioned mindset, but kind of charming in a quaint way.

I just had a conversation what is the point of watching old movies. This little comedy is one of the many reasons why. They don't miss anything - neither the charm, humour, action or plot twists, and all the heartbreaks and emotions are as real and relatable as today.

This is the first film Lloyd made after leaving Hal Roach and striking out on his own. It's a really nice romantic comedy with Ralston being particularly appealing that ends in a really extraordinary chase sequence that utilizes every form of land transportation known to man at the time.

after watching a couple of his films, Lloyd is so annoying and unlikable to me. I'm done with him.
