Girls Just Want to Have Fun

I had no idea that it was "Want to Have" instead of "Wanna Have." Helen Hunt was the best part---she was so cute! SJP was fine. Shannon Doherty was so young but delivered her lines well. Worth watching for the '80s styles, but the plot was disjointed and typical at best. More disappointing since there are flashes of Hunt and SJP going on hijinks which would have suited the title more. Also, what's up with having to use a cover band instead of Cyndi Lauper? Fav scene: title song montage.

Certainly of its time. Like a TV show with really great production values and the attendant dull, cutesy writing. And sure enough, all of the actors were essentially TV actors that never made much of a splash in actual movies. Nice to know Sarah Jessica Parker was sort of cute at one time, I guess.

To this day I still struggle to decide whether this or myself is the best thing to have come out of 1985.

Fun, silly, light, and features at least FOUR montages of exuberant 80's dancing-slash-gymnastics. Probably not that great, but I can't extract it from my nostalgia of watching it thousands of times as a kid, nor do I really want to.
