Give Me a Sailor

Martha Raye and Bob Hope are great together and this was a slight but fun little Romantic Comedy. The plot is paper-thin and the characters are two-dimensional but you get a couple of laughs, a song or two, and a short runtime.

Big mouth Martha Raye as the ugly duckling sister of Betty Grable! What makes this comedy enjoyable is that Raye really is a ugly duckling, but she's got such a winning personality that you hope for all happiness for her and not her spoiled pretty sister. Her and Bob Hope are good together and really make this a lot of fun. Had hoped for some bigger laughs, but this still works because of the two. Especially Raye, who for me it turning into one of the best female comedians of the late-30s.
