Gloria is a 58 year old divorcée. Her children have all left home but she has no desire to spend her days and nights alone. Determined to defy old age and loneliness, she rushes headlong into a whirl of singles' parties on the hunt for instant gratification - which just leads repeatedly to disappointment and emptiness. But then she meets Rodolfo, an ex-naval officer seven years her senior to whom she feels romantically inclined. (berlinale.de)

Authentic seeming, and well filmed. Gloria's a bitch when you think about it though.

Worth a watch for Garcia's performance alone, but beyond that it was hard for me to find much of value here. Up until about halfway I was on board with it but at some point you realize that both Rodolfo and Gloria are incredibly immature in how they handle their relationships. I found myself unable to root for either of them on even the most basic levels by the end.

A splash of authentic, life-affirming cinema. Paulina Garcia deserves to sweep award season.

Garcia impresses as the eponymous character, yet I struggled to sympathise with her as a result of her increasingly unlikable nature. Granted, Lelio presents us with an honest look at our eternal search for human connection and the disappointment that repeatedly ensues.

The best film about single- and sexlife at 58 years you will ever see.

It would be easy to overpraise Gloria for its rarity. Movies with this much respect for and attention to an ordinary divorced middle-aged woman's struggles just don't get made often or at all. Fortunately, the film itself is very good on its own terms. Gloria dancing off her disenchantment with life at the dance floor by the film's end says it all.

An underwhelming story about a middle-aged woman looking for love and companionship and finding disappointment. Many boring and unnecessary scenes. Paulina Garcia was courageous to take on this role, but the plot and script gave her little to work with. I liked how they handled her sexuality and nudity, but was repeatedly confused and frustrated by the actions of her spineless lover. There was some minor satisfaction when she stood up for herself, but there were not enough highlights.

Ain't exactly reinventing the wheel with its portrait of a 50-something divorcée and her emerging fear of death & loneliness, but holy hell, is it ever directed and acted with such a touch of aplomb. Excellent use of Chekov's (paintball) gun as well.

Loneliness captivates when least anticipated. It is sublime. Old age accompanies loneliness in such a mesmerizing way.
