This seriously won the Oscar for Best Short?

Some jokes were hit-and-miss and not easily dismissible considering its running time yet it remains a refreshing short. Matheny is charismatic as the love-inducing crooner, both in his presence and delivery. Its influences of French New Wave spoke to me on an emotional level, each shot dripping with crisp B&W frames, rendered even greater by its soothing, jazz-influenced soundtrack. A charmer.

Matheny channels Woody Allen and manages some beautiful B&W shots along the way. Some of the actors are more charismatic than others (Matheny himself is probably the best). It's not life-changing but is definitely worth a see.
