Godmothered

Godmothered has an interesting premise that's let down by a mediocre screenplay & inconsistent script that often feels Disney-Channel-esque. Bell & Fisher are great. The situations they get themselves in & dialogue that drives the plot forward, however, seem very contrived. The film is aggressively female-forward, which isn't a bad thing, but does undermine the ending a little; the theme that happy is better than happily-ever-after is a decent one, but here it essentialises into just smile more.

Not the best Christmas movie out there, but it's definitely not too bad. I think the general Disney lover will find this enjoyable to some capacity. Jillian Bell for sure carries the film with her role as the titular "godmother" character. She's very genuine and likable and has all of the best parts. I'd recommend this if you like silly, festive, family fun.

I mean you know from the premise that it's just not going to be anything special, but hey, it's enjoyable enough for what it is. I thought the actress that played the older daughter did stand out though.

Harmless season joy. Never the greatest of comedies, but for a little Disney cheers it worked for a little family time.... as long as you have a tolerance for cringe.

Ever since Disney+ went live, I've tried my hardest to check out all of their original films, and while most of them are better than your standard Disney Channel Original Movie....none are big-production theater level...unless you count Mulan or Raya and the Last Dragon or something, which I'm not sure I do. Any of the movies that were specifically made FOR Disney Plus have basically been average or mediocre at best. Same thing here. I'm not exactly target audience, though, so what do I know?
