Gods of the Plague

My first Fassbinder, maybe not the best one to start with. Often has a lot more interesting things visually going on than anything else - the plot is a bit of a standard small-time crime thriller but it's rather oppressive and atmospheric at times to make up for how bland the story is. There's definitely better films like this out there, really.

A self-conscious film about stupid men and the even stupider women that love them for no reason that I can figure out. A fairly unpleasent experience. Harry Baer is absolutely terrible.

Deuses da Peste tinha sua première há 50 anos na Áustria. Como é usual em diretores que filmam muito em pouco tempo, Fassbinder acabou tendo uma obra irregular, alternando obras-primas indiscutíveis com filmes medianos, acho que esse se enquadra no mediano. Mesmo o diretor já se mostrando pleno de técnica (tem uns planos sensacionais aqui), falta aquele oomph que o tornou o grande cineasta que é. Plus: Margarethe von Trotta como atriz num filme do Fassbinder, bitches! DVDRip no MKO.

I don't really remember this, due to being very drunk, but I know it was sweet, and a little bit cynical and sad, and I am a melancholic drunk so I enjoyed it.
