This feels like the perfect Godzilla film. Even the human plot gets lovably discursive and batshit insane (Don Frye's comically incongruous role stands out in particular). The cinematography and action scenes have that unmistakable East Asian flavor of lunacy a la The Avenging Fist or Endhiran. Add in all the kaiju Toho could think of and you have the ultimate Godzilla film. It feels great to see Toho finally embrace the craziness of the Shôwa era and adapt it to something more modern.

It's Kitamura doing his version of Destroy All Monsters. If you're familiar with either of those then you should know what to expect from this. Godzilla beats the crap out of everything in this movie except Don Frye (look up his Pride fight against Yoshihiro Takayama on youtube to see why!)

This is not a good piece of film. But this is a wonderful movie anyway. Honestly, most Godzilla movies (besides the very first) are boring in addition to being dumb and bad anyway, no matter how much I like them. This one isn't boring. It's a ridiculous mishmash of X-men, The Matrix, and every Godzilla film ever made. Mothra and Anguirus certainly get their due action scenes, and the villain monsters too. Expect cliches in every human scene.

Pure Hyper silly fun. Not for pretentious fools but those who can enjoy a just-for-fun film can settle down with some snacks and enjoy its fast paced cheese.

Fifty years of Toho sci-fi distilled into two hours. If you like Toho sci-fi - and I do - it's absolutely amazing.

It's a bigger, dumber version of Destroy All Monsters, and it lacks a lot of the charm of the franchise's better outings, but it's never boring, and when Godzilla is on screen they make good use of him. It's one of the more fun entries in the series, but it lacks the substance needed to truly standout.

Even though Godzilla doesn't show up until the end, I just love this movie. The mayhem he creates in a short amount of time is incredible, and the rest of the movie is just lovably ridiculous.

Saw this Xmas night, armed with popcorn AND an unopened bottle of Jagermeister. Life is good, I feel better than James brown! (Big ups if you know where that line is from)

Absolutely retarded in every sense of the word. However it still manages to be mildly entertaining in the "so stupid it's funny" category. If you ever wondered what a video game plot is like on the big screen look no further than Godzilla: Final Wars.

yes, it's destroy all monsters. yes kitamura is ridiculous and borrows/steals from the matrix, star wars, a bit of mi:2 even. but is it a massive, epic and appropriate 50th anniversary for godzilla? absolutely. it's the longest godzilal movie and filled to bursting with action. it's loud, it's borderline obnoxious with a blasting fanfare of a score, but it's exactly what you want when you put in a film called "godzilla: FINAL WARS". fans will love that nearly every single monster appears.

Yeah Big G is hardly in this, but when he is he delivers beatdowns the way I imagine a video game-prone generation wants to see them. The humans were sometimes annoying in this, but at least they weren't as boring as they used to be.

One of the best Godzilla flicks also happens to be the last. They knew they wanted to go out with a bang, so this is Godzilla at his most ridiculous. It's just carnage and cheese for an hour and a half, and it's beautiful.

The dumb but engaging story and the dumb but engaging effects make wonderful music together. And speaking of music, the score is by Keith Emerson of all people. Also features some memorable character-actorage from Don Frye.

Gotta admit, I actively hate this one. It's just noise and gibberish. The monsters looked decent though.

About a season's worth of monster fights and ridiculous story developments crammed into a two-hour movie. Fans of the series will probably love this, though.

Godzilla: Final Wars is not a great movie, even by cheesy Godzilla standards. However, I will drop everything and watch this movie anytime to see Godzilla destroy the abomination that is the American Godzilla (Zilla) in a scene that lasts 15 seconds.
